Contracts

Transfers

Wayne Rooney's son Kai has signed for Manchester United. The 11 year old clearly follows in his dad's footsteps, once a blue always a Manc, right?

In Major League Soccer Montreal Impact have signed Djordje Mihailovic from Chicago Fire for £655,000.

Finnish midfielder Alexander Ring has joined Austin FC from NYCFC for a fee of just over £1m.

MLS sides Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas have done some business as Houston sign Fafa Picault for £225,000.

RB Leipzig have completed the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from Red Salzburg for a fee of around £20m. He becomes the 18th player to join RBL from their sister club in Austria.

Injury Round-Up

Coventry City captain Liam Kelly is ruled out of action for around 3 months due to a groin injury.

Managerial Changes

Disciplinary Charges

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has been charged by the Football Association for his social media post, which he quickly deleted.

Troyes South Korean footballer Suk Hyun-jun has been charged with draft dodging by Korea's Military Manpower Administration (MMA). The MMA said that Suk was notified of the violation in March and was given 6 months to provide an explanation but none has been forthcoming. There is a jail term of up to 5 years punishment for deliberately avoiding the draft by staying overseas.

PFA Brought In At Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday's players have called in the Professional Footballers' Association after the club failed to pay their salaries on time. It is believed that Owls' players only received a percentage of their November salaries. Wednesday are bottom of the Championship table, seven points behind safety, though 6 points of that were down to a points deduction for breaching spending rules.

FIFA Announce Best Awards

Finally some deserved recognition for Bayern Munich's Polish striker Robert Lewandowski as he was named best men's player by FIFA, his first time winning the award which is usually swapped between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was named best men's coach for the second year in a row, while there was another award for a Bayern player with Manual Neuer winning best goalkeeper award. Finally Tottenham Hotspur fans have another trophy to celebrate as Son Heung-min won the Puskas award for the best goal. Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was given a FIFA Foundation award for his work combatting child poverty in the UK. The year's best XI (according to FIFA) was also named:
Goalkeeper: Alisson (Liverpool)
Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich).
Midfielders: Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich), Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City), Thiago (Liverpool).
