Football News: Koeman warns against complacency ahead of Burnley clash

Ronald Koeman has sent out a warning to his Southampton players ahead of today's Premier League clash with struggling Burnley.

Koeman has told his players that facing the Clarets could be more difficult than games against the top of the table teams, despite Burnley's struggles.

With the Saints place near the top of the league taking a knock in recent weeks, with successive losses to Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, Koeman will hope his players heed his warnings before they slip any further.

"Always the pressure is higher to win the next one after three defeats in a row, that is normal, but Burnley are tough at home and physical," said Koeman.

"We lost all three games, so it is important to get back to a winning feeling.

"But maybe the next one will be totally different, and maybe more difficult, because it is an away game and because of how they play.

"It is maybe a little bit like a typical English style, it will be difficult and they will have all our respect because they have a good team."

Southampton will need to learn from the three previous defeats if they are to make the European dream of their fans a reality thie season.

Saints chances have been improved by the return to the squad of Belgian international Toby Alderweireld and England youth international James Ward-Prowse after injury.
