United Fans To Gift Club Money
Dundee United Supporters' Foundation members have voted 98.42% in favour of giving the club a £100,000 cash injection. £60,000 will be given immediately, followed by all membership fees and donations received until the £100,000 figure is achieved. The foundation gifted the same amount in June 2020 as they look to help their club through the financial difficulties it faces during the current pandemic.
Pot Hits Out At Kettle
Despite being a presidential candidate for a club that is well known for disrespectful pursuits of players it wants to sign, Joan Laporta has hit out at Paris Saint-Germain's "disrespectful" pursuit of Barcelona forward Lionel Messi. Without a hint of irony, Laporta said: "It is disrespectful to Barca that clubs like PSG publicly say they are going to sign Messi. This coming from a club-state that have bypassed the rules. We cannot allow clubs and states the luxury of destabilising another club. In that sense, we will have to speak with UEFA and FIFA to avoid such actions. PSG must abstain from [talking about Messi]. It is out of place for another club to speak about him. And, at the moment, there is no president in place to respond to this lack of respect." Obviously he has completely forgotten all the times they have done the exact same thing and then induced players to feign injury (Philippe Coutinho for example) or even skip town over night, in the case of Ousmane Dembele. And the constant use of the Catalan identity is as much a club-state as anything PSG do.
Ref Makes Clubs Swear Under Oath
In Spain's La Liga, referee Mateu Lahoz is taking precautions against the pandemic to a new level. It has been revealed in the minutes of the Copa del Rey tie between Real Betis and Real Sociedad that Lahoz made club officials for both sides swear under oath that all the players who were in the squad had undergone tests and returned negative results. It is Lahoz's first game since he was struck down by the virus earlier this month.
