Contracts

Xabi Alonso has extended his contract at Real Sociedad, where he currently coaches the B team.

Transfers

Free agent former Leicester City and Newcastle United right-back Danny Simpson has signed for Bristol City until the end of the season.

Another free agent to find a new club is former Everton forward Oumar Niasse, who has signed for Huddersfield Town.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nubel is looking for a move away according to his agent Stefan Backs. Nubel signed a contract guaranteeing him at least 10 matches for Bayern, but he has played just three times so far due to the form of Manuel Neuer.

Injury Round-Up

Bristol Rovers duo Max Ehmer and Sam Nicholson are out for the rest of the season as they both need surgery.

On-loan Norwich City defender Ben Gibson has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ankle ligament injury. Gibson is on loan from Burnley with a clause which will make the deal a permanent one if Norwich win promotion this season. They are currently 8 points clear at the top of the Championship with eight games left to play.

Borussia Dortmund central defender Dan-Axel Zagadou's injury problems are continuing to cause problems as it has been revealed that he needs another knee operation. He will not play again this season.

Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati could be set for a third knee surgery, as the medical staff at the club look to cure ongoing medical issues.

Managerial Changes

Disciplinary Charges

Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock has been fined £7,000 by the FA for improper conduct.

West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen is being investigated by the Football Association over a tweet he posted in 2012 as a 15 year old. Bowen has apologised for the post which contained a racist term.

Lazio have been fined 150,000 euros and their president Claudio Lotito has been banned for seven months for breaking pandemic protocols. Two team doctors have also been suspended for 12 months. The club had failed to report positive cases to the local health authorities and allowed three players to attend training with the team after testing positive. Twice Lazio fielded asymptomatic players who should have been in isolation. Lazio say they will be appealing against the verdict.

Stadium Approval

Everton's plans for a new 52,000 seater stadium at the Bramley-Moore Dock has finally been given approval by the UK government. Council approval was granted in February but the government had asked for time to review the proposals. Historic England, who had objected to the new stadium, have said they will respect the decision.

Henry Quits Social Media

Legendary former Arsenal and France forward Thierry Henry has decided to quit social media in protest at the racism and bullying that is rife across the platforms. Henry called the problem "too toxic to ignore". About time someone did that, I hope it is the start of a mass exodus of 'celebs' from those platforms until action is taken.
