Contracts

Fleetwood Town midfielder Dan Batty has agreed a new contract which runs until 2023.

Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa has extended his deal until 2026.

 


Transfers

Young Uruguayan midfielder Thomas Chacon has signed for Liverpool from Minnesota United on loan. The Uruguayan Liverpool.

Also in Major League Soccer, Real Salt Lake have completed the signing of American forward Bobby Wood from Hamburg.

 


Injury Round-Up

Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore has tested CV positive and has gone into self-isolation.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has also gone into self-isolation after testing positive and is to miss the first leg of the Parisien's Champions League quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich.

VfB Stuttgart's Congolese forward Silas Wamangituka has had surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee that he ruptured away to Bayern Munich. The 21 year old is expected to miss at least 6 months.

Werder Bremen have been hit with a double injury blow as Nick Woltemade has suffered a partial tear to his LCL in training and will miss 6 to 8 weeks. Milos Veljkovic has also picked up a knock.

 


Managerial Changes

Allan Russell, who also works for the English FA as a striker coach for the national side, is to join Aberdeen as an assistant first team coach.

Danny Schwarz and Martin Demichelis have taken charge of Bayern Munich's reserve team earlier than initially planned. The pair were take over from Holger Seitz in the summer but it has been moved forward to allow Seitz to concentrate on his role as sporting director.

 


Disciplinary Charges

Juventus trio Weston McKennie, Paulo Dybala and Arthur Melo have been dropped from the squad after being caught breaching pandemic regulations by holding a party.

 


Shutes Withdraws From Grimsby Takeover

One of the trio who were set to buy Grimsby Town has pulled out. Tom Shutes, along with Jason Stockwood and Andrew Pettit, were set to buy out majority shareholder John Fenty, with the deal all agreed in December. Stockwood and Pettit remain in talks to complete a takeover, Grimsby chairman Philip Day said: "We are very disappointed that at the last minute when all terms had long been agreed, all of the necessary documentation prepared and the consent of the EFL obtained that we received an email from Tom Shutes stating that for personal reasons he is having to step away from the consortium's proposal for the acquisition of the club. However, we move on and are pleased to report that we are still in dialogue with Jason and Andrew to move the matter forward."

 


CR7 Armband Auctioned

The captain's armband that Cristiano Ronaldo threw away in frustration as he stormed off the pitch, before the game between Portugal and Serbia had finished, has been sold at auction. Ronaldo had scored a late winner which the officials ruled had failed to cross the line, even though it was over the line by a very clear margin, and threw down his armband on the way off. A firefighter on duty at the match, Djordje Vukicevic, picked it up and sold it to pay for a six-month-old baby's medical treatment. Gavrilo Djurdjevic suffers from spinal muscular atrophy. Vukicevic said: "Ronaldo was agitated, he threw the armband. It fell right next to me. The entire crew agreed this will go for little Gavrilo." The armband raised about £54,000 which will go towards the full cost of £2.1m needed to pay for the treatment.
