Lewis O'Brien has signed a new deal with Huddersfield Town which will expire in 2025.

Free agent veteran midfielder Mark Marshall has signed for Crawley Town.

Everton have managed to offloan highly-paid flop James Rodriguez, who has signed for Qatari Stars League side Al-Rayyan.

Free agent former Swansea City striker Eder has joined Al-Raed of the Saudi Professional League.

Samba Sow, who has been a free agent since his summer release from Nottingham Forest, has signed for Racing Lens.

West Ham United have released Winston Reid.

Former Cardiff City midfielder Kadeem Harris has signed for Metalist Kharkiv in the Ukraine.

Melbourne City of the Aussie A-League have signed free agent Italian forward Manuel Pucciarelli.

Injury Round-Up

Manchester United's perenially-injured defender Phil Jones has finally returned to contention to play after 20 months on the sidelines. Jones last played in January 2020.

Managerial Changes

Curtis Fleming has been appointed as assistant manager of Bristol City on a permanent basis. Fleming initially joined on a temporary basis to cover for the absence of Paul Simpson, who was away having cancer treatment. Simpson is now back as a first team coach and Fleming is added to the set-up permanently.

Nottingham Forest have paid a compensation package to Swansea City to appoint the Swans former manager Steve Cooper as their new head coach.

Legendary former footballer Samuel Eto'o is standing as a candidate for the presidency of Cameroon's FA.

Disciplinary Charges

Tranmere Rovers' former Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing has had a 3-match ban overturned after the red card he was shown on Saturday in the game against Salford City was removed. The 32-year-old was shown a straight red in the 45th minute but has had the decision reversed after a claim of wrongful dismissal was upheld. That game has also seen Salford his with a charge of failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 45th minute incident that led to Spearing's red.

Hungary will have to play their next home game in FIFA competition behind closed doors, with a further ground closure suspended for 2 years, plus they have been fined 200,000 euros (£158,400). The punishment is for the incidents at the England game when England players were subjected to racist abuse and objects were thrown in huge quantities. Seems as toothless a punishment as Hungary could have hoped for.

Championship side Derby County have officially entered administration and been deducted 12 points, putting them bottom of the table with -2 points. The club has a debt of more than £50m, built up under current owner Mel Morris as he chased glory with highly paid signings and management appointments. There are further deductions possible due to unsibmitted accounts, which should have been submitted last season and led to Wycombe Wanderers being relegated in place of the Rams. That has led to Wycombe owner Rob Couhig to investigate if it would be possible to take legal action for loss of earnings. On top of those problems for Derby, there is another, yes another, possible point deducation, this time of 15 points, hanging over their heads which will be applied if they fail to pay 25% of outstanding sums to non-secured creditors.

Celtic Losses

Celtic's latest financial results have revealed a loss of £11.5m after revenue fell by almost £10m. Sales also dropped with just £9.4m received for the sales of Jeremie Frimpong, Jack Hendry and Patryk Klimala, down from £24.2m the club made from sales in the previous set of accounts.

Anfield Improvement Continues

Work to enlarge Liverpool's Anfield stadium will continue with the Anfield Road Stand to be redeveloped, increasing capacity by 7,000 to make the stadium's full capacity 61,000. The club have also been given permission to hold up to 6 concerts and major events at the stadium over the next 5 years.
