Contracts

Hellas Verona defender Nicolo Casale has signed a new deal until 2026.

Experienced Argentine forward Gustavo Bou has extended his deal with Major League Soccer's New England Revolution until the end of 2023.

Ipswich Town have given midfielder Idris El Mizouni a new contract which will expire in 2024.

Transfers

Injury Round-Up

Carlisle United goalkeeper Lukas Jensen, on loan from Burnley, has been ruled out for an unknown period as he requires surgery on a damaged wrist.

Spanish midfielder Alex Rodriguez-Gorrin is likely to miss the rest of the season after the 28-year-old Oxford United player tore his ACL during their FA Cup match with Bristol Rovers.

Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson is likely to miss more time due to the illness that kept him away from Saturday's defeat to Coventry City. City's CEO Richard Gould said: "He's not been well, clearly, he's missed three games and he's missed a few weeks for us. He's spending some more time away at the moment, and we're hoping for a quick and full recovery. Nigel is normally so full of energy and enthusiasm and he's a strong character and I think when you lose your energy for whatever, reason, particularly for a man like Nigel, it hits you hard, and we've really missed him. When you look at our performances over the last five or six games when he's either been absent or he's not been himself it's been a big hit for us."

West Ham United centre-back Angelo Ogbonna has damaged his ACL in the game against Liverpool and the club will now await the word of a specialist to see if the 33-year-old needs an operation.

It is expected that France and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba will be out of action for between 6 and 8 weeks with a thigh injury picked up on international duty.

Former Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton, Leeds United and Wales player Mickey Thomas has announced that he has been given the all-clear from cancer. The 67-year-old has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment since being diagnosed with stomach cancer in February 2019.

West Ham's Declan Rice has withdrawn from the England squad with an illness.

Managerial Changes

Stoke City's CEO Tony Scholes is to leave the club after 17 years and is taking up a post with the Premier League. Scholes said: "Making the decision to leave the club after such a long time has been extremely difficult. But I feel the time is right to the embrace the new challenge that my role with the Premier League will give me."

Liverpool's sporting director Michael Edwards is to leave the club at the end of the season and will be replaced by his assistant Julian Ward.

Disciplinary Charges

Galatasaray are banned from selling tickets to its away supporters for the next 2 UEFA competition matches it takes part in and have been fined 50,000euro for lighting of fireworks and throwing of objects by its fans. They have also been fined a further 8,000euro for acts of damage and ordered to reimburse Olympique de Marseille for any damages caused by their supporters on 30th September.

West Ham United's Under-21s have been kicked out of the Papa John's Trophy following a 3-point deduction for fielding a suspended player. Ajibola Alese had picked up 2 bookings in their first 2 ties, leading to an automatic 1-game ban, but the Hammers fielded him in their third game as they beat Gillingham. West Ham have now dropped to 3rd in their group due to the deduction and will no longer progress. They have also missed out on the £10,000 win bonus for the Gills game, which will instead be awarded to them.

Czech Issues West Ham Cheque

Prem Scuppers Charity Kit Plan

A plan by homeless charity Shelter, which had the support of clubs, for Premier League clubs to wear their away kits at home on Boxing Day has been blocked by the league itself. Shelter were hoping the #NoHomeKit idea would raise awareness of homelessness, but the Premier League stated: "The Premier League receives a large number of requests from charities every season, however we aren't able to support all centrally. Clubs are entitled to support charitable causes, and we encourage clubs to do so, provided it is in compliance with Premier League rules." League rules say that teams must wear their home kits when playing at home.
