Injury Round-Up

Managerial Changes

Gillingham have appointed Steve Lovell on a "short-term basis" following the sacking of Steve Evans.

Disciplinary Charges

The Tunisian Football Federation have written to the Confederation of African Football to complain about their match with Mali, which ended 13seconds before the end of normal time, without playing any injury time. Tunisia were trailing 1-0 when Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe, who had already attempted to end the game after 85minutes only to notice his error and continue after initially blowing for full-time. It is claimed that Sikazwe had sunstroke and had to go to hospital, leaving the 4th official to attempt to restart the match, 20minutes after the game had ended. However some of the Tunisian players were taking ice baths and so the game failed to restart, even though the Malian coach was interrupted in the middle of his 'post-game' press conference to get the game started again. Sikazwe has previously been suspended on suspicion of corruption.

Oldham Athletic's owner Abdallah Lemsagam has said that he has been sent threats and bullets in the mail. Lemsagam's reign at Oldham has been troubled and the club currently sits bottom of the League Two table, four points adrift of the rest.

The Football Association has charged Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson for comments he made after his team were defeated by QPR.

Shrewsbury Town have been fined £3,750 and Accrington Stanley £3,375 for a scuffle between the two sets of players.

Pandemic Problems

Burkina Faso captain Bertrand Traore has been ruled out of action for the next Afcon game against Cape Verde after the 26-year-old Aston Villa forward tested CV positive. Cape Verde were missing 11 of their squad for their previous game. Senegal are missing Fodo Ballo-Toure and Idrissa Gana Gueye for their game against Guinea.

The SPFL have increased the number of substitutions allowed to five in order to help teams cope with the disruption caused by the pandemic.

Barnsley v Blackpool was postponed due to an outbreak at Barnsley. Oldham against Leyton Orient has also been called off.

Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom has tested positive for CV and will miss the game at the weekend against Derby County. Stoke City manager Michael O'Neill is also set to miss the weekend game against Hull City due to a positive test.

Oxford Plan New Stadium

Oxford United have submitted a proposal to build a new stadium. The club currently plays at the Kassam Stadium, which they do not own and their lease expires in 2026. The plans are for a brand-new build 18,000 capacity stadium and associated facilities at Stratfield Brake.
