Fernandinho has returned to his first club Athletico Paranaense on a free transfer from Manchester City. I wonder if he will still be able to commit 50 bookable offences a game before he gets one yellow card shown to him while in Brazilian football?

St Mirren have completed the signing of Keanu Bacchus from Western Sydney Wanderers of the Australian A-League.

Injury Round Up

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Jack Ruddy has been involved in a nasty clash of head on his debut for East Kilbride in a friendly. Ruddy was out cold and was taken to hospital suffering from concussion after waking up suffering from a sensitivity to light.

Job Changes

Former Italian international midfielder Damiano Tommasi is the new mayor of Verona after being elected as an independent candidate. His coalition beat a far-right Brothers of Italy representative. Tommasi began his playing career with Hellas Verona before moving on to AS Roma to play alongside the likes of Francesco Totti and Gabriel Batistuta.

Disciplinary Charges

Sassuolo's Italian international midfielder Davide Frattesi has claimed his "phone was hacked" after a completely naked selfie of himself was posted to his Instagram account.

Hornets do Qatar U-Turn

Watford have cancelled a proposed friendly with the Qatari national team following complaints from supporters groups. Two fans groups, Proud Hornets and Women of Watford FC, had said they were "disappointed" by the decision to schedule a game against Qatar where homosexuality is illegal. The Hornets are of course best known for their success while owned by Elton John. With the World Cup to be held in Qatar this winter, there has been a lot of focus on the Gulf nation's human rights record and it has led to a number of the Welsh national team's staff to decide to boycott due to its stance on LGBTQ+ people.

Financial Disparity

It has been revealed that even the top club in Italy earns less from TV rights than the bottom club in the English Premier League. Last season the team that propped up the table, Norwich City, earnt more than any of the Serie A clubs. The Canaries pocketed 105m euros from TV rights while Inter Milan who, as reigning champions, picked up the biggest share in Serie A got 84.2m euros. Juventus got 77.9m, AC Milan, the new champions, 77.8m. Napoli were 4th highest earners with 68.5m, ahead of Jose Mourinho's AS Roma who received 64.1m. Venezia got the least with just 26m euros.
