Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony is set to quit the role and sell his share of the League One side at the end of the season.

Disciplinary Charges

Chile and Peru have mounted an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against FIFA's ruling Ecuador's Byron Castillo was eligible to play in the qualifiers. Peru want Ecuador thrown out of the World Cup, to be replaced by Peru, while Chile have asked for Castillo to be ruled ineligible for the qualifying games he played in and those matches to be forfeited. Castillo played in 8 of the 18 World Cup qualifiers Ecuador played to make it to the Qatar World Cup. If those 8 matches were to be forfeited, and their opponents awarded the 3pts in each, Chile would be the ones to qualify in their place.

Everton have been fined £300,000 over the two pitch invasions during the win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the end of last season. The match, held at Goodison Park, saw the Toffees clinch survival in their penultimate league game of the season. Fans invaded the pitch on 85 minutes, after Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave Everton the lead and then again after the final whistle. The Football Association found that the fans had used "threatening and violent behaviour" during the invasions.

Huddersfield Town have been fined £70,000 over a pitch invasion following their Championship play-off semi-final win over Luton Town in May. One elderly Luton fan was left with a head injury after being struck by a coin thrown at him.

Yet another pitch invasion has led to a £15,000 fine for Port Vale after a mass invasion following their League Two play-off semi-final win over Swindon Town in May. Swindon players were said to have been verbally and physically abused by Vale fans and it was reported that objects, including bottles, were thrown.

All football matches in Indonesia have been put on hold while an investigation is taken into a disaster at a match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surubaya. A stampeded following Arema's loss to their bitter rivals, after police tear-gassed rioting supporters, ended with at least 129 dead and about 180 injured. FIFA have a blanket ban on the use of "crowd control gas" at football matches for precisely this reason. The Indonesian state claim that around 4,000 tickets more than the Kanjuruhan stadium's capacity were sold to Arema fans, as Persebaya fans were banned from buying tickets due to previous violent clashes between the two sets of fans.

Guinea has been stripped of the hosting rights for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe told a press conference in the Guinean capital of Conakry: "The 2025 Nations Cup allocated to Guinea will not take place there because we're not yet ready in Guinea. The Caf decision was taken in July and was reported to the transitional government in Guinea stating that where we are right now, there should be a process to allow new bids to come forward. Caf is going to ask to receive new bids because the infrastructure and facilities are not appropriate or ready for Caf to host the 2025 Nations Cup in Guinea, and that's the basis of the decision." Guinea has been preparing for the tournament since 2014. CAF will now have a fresh bidding process for the hosting rights.
