Football News: Have Rangers Been Short Changed By Ross Wilson?
I see a lot of people talking about the Union Bears and their protests. I think our board in the main have been good. Only thing is they're not too transparent and that should be rectified with giving more information on what their agenda and future plans for the Club are, where they think we should currently be and where we should be over the next few years.
How much have Glasgow Rangers spent on players over the past 4 seasons on wages and transfer fees / agent fees etc? People keep asking where the money is coming from for new players this summer? In all honesty, I think we have spent a huge amount over the past 4 - 5 years. More than enough to be competing right there with Celtic. Our squad should have been filled with more younger, hungrier players and possibly more sellable assets by now?
Throwing 2 names; Aribo and Bassey is not good enough. There should be more within the squad. Paterson came through the ranks and showed his own skill for that move and he sold himself like any good player can. Hence, if Morelos and Kent really are as good as we like to think, they would have sold themselves if teams thought they were viable. Teams would pay the money if they thought they were as good as some think.
The same way all these players over the years have been bought and sold at Celtic. They have a scouting team that must scout the world and can identify players from various leagues across continents. Not just buying outright, but managing to also bring quality in on loans over the years from various teams in various leagues.
Frimpong
van Dijk
Tierney
Moussa Dembélé
Forster
Armstrong
Wanyama
Dembélé
Ajer
Juranovic
To name a few, all sold for millions year on year. A trend they continue to do and something we haven't been able to compete with because of the lack of potential players being brought in over the past few seasons.
Seriously, everyone on our Board has spent a fortune and they have given, by looks of it, free reign for Ross Wilson to do what he thought was best with the money and that for me hasn't worked to our advantage. We are being short changed. In all honesty, we're not getting a good return from a man that has been given so much support, money and power at the Club from our Board.
Anyone who doesn't think this is true regarding money spent by the Board needs to look at it more closely and realise we have spent more then enough, otherwise we may as well sack the board?
To me, their main problem is being blind sided by Wilson for whatever reason and I don't think we can give him any more money this summer. If he gets it wrong this summer, we could be in trouble again and I mean financially, off and on the Park?
Would love to know what the money we have spent over the past full 5 seasons is and how much Wilson has spent since arriving in 2019 and why we still have the majority of the same players playing without any real potential assets to sell on just now and very limited success on the Park.
Given the contacts, the money, the size of our Club, the overall experience and vast knowledge of players Wilson is supposed to have, why do we have protests and different opinions on this guy. Is it because he's just not doing what he was brought in to do?
Take him out of equation, give the job to someone new and give them the money and say do better than him. Who?, that's the boards job surely? Find the right guy to take our playing squad forward, filling it with young quality, high potential players surely?
I honestly think it can be done and be done under the budget he has had to work with, which to me suggests just how bad a job he's doing. It's not just one person's opinion, but a growing number of supporters of our great Club and it's getting stronger everyday.
If we're sitting here next season, this time still behind, even knocked out of Europe early and already knocked out a cup and Wilson is still here after spending whatever he may get in the summer, is he worth the risk? Would you risk it with your own money?
He may finally get it right, but why now, why not in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022? We may have gone for Players who didn't want to come here and we missed out on others who did, but he should have identified the players who would like to be at Rangers, (like Celtic do) who would make a big difference and has a good sell on value down the line. That's his remit for coming here and bringing in quality loans which he's mostly failed at?
Instead, we have an ageing squad - players with terrible injury histories and players running down contracts. Players staying over their time whilst losing out on Leagues and Cups. And there are some who are happy to continue this trend by backing Wilson and backing players who have had their time to show what they can do and still no further forward while our rivals all applaud and laugh at our expense, whilst we continue to argue why he should stay or go and why players warrant extra contracts and who doesn't, instead of having the gall to pull the plaster off and do what's needed for us to move forward?
I no longer want to accept second best. We've been back in the top flight long enough. We have already won the League since being back and we had a chance to improve, but we didn't, we stood still because in my mind Wilson used what was available on the wrong gambles, instead of going for what was tried and tested and let many good players slip through our fingers, which was right in front of a man of his wealth of experience and knowledge and we have to ask the question why?
