Football News: Current Overview Of Glasgow Rangers
And breathe, count to 10, listen to rain and forest sounds. Right I'm back.
Michael Beale sold us the dream. Just some of his comments - No short term fixes, no loan signing, it's about creating an identity, fast free flowing high intensity football. High press football.
Kent, Alfie, Arfield, McGregor, Helander, given a guard of honour when our greatest rivals have won a treble. Re. McGregor, he had a testimonial to say his goodbyes.
Solutions - Leon Balogun re-signed after the previous manager thought he wasn't good enough. Alfie and Kent not offered new contracts, and allowed to leave for free, (not Beale's fault) Colak sold, Hagi loaned out, Arfield left at the end of his contract, Fashion sold, Tillman decided against us, Wright told to find a new club.
After last season's 2 Old Firm games that meant something and we lost, it was defensive mistakes that cost us the Old Firm match on Sunday, and have cost us all season. It's something we need to be looking at going forward.
Stats for 22/23 for players removed from the team:
Colak: goals 14, assists 1, Alfie: goals 11, assists 5, Fashion: goals 12, assists 7, Tillman: goals 10, assists 4, Arfield: goals 5, assists 1, Kent: goals 3 assists 8, Hagi: goals 1.
Total - 56 goals 26 assists.
New signings put into the team:
Cifuentes: goals 1, assists 3, Danilo: goals 10, assists 3, Sima: goals 6 assists 2, Dessers: goals 7, assists 2, Lammers: goals 2 assists 2, Dowell: goals 5, assists 3.
Total - 31 goals 14 assists
IMHO the previous players have not been replaced with similar quality or better. Kent / Fashion vs Sima, (loan signing with no option to buy. No short term fixes) Alfie vs Dessers, Hagi, Tillman vs Dowell, Lammers.
The three I feel that have added quality McGregor vs Butland, Cifuentes vs Kamara and think Danilo will be better than Colak if Beale plays him.
Wright told to find a club, but no replacement or player looked at, due to Matondo having a good couple of halves. Davis clearly not favoured as left C/H, so the answer is Balogun, a failed QPR CH, who was ready to retire. (No short term fixes).
If you take into consideration the transfer fees, the million for Tillman the 5 million plus gate money for reaching the play off game, the guarantee 3 home game in the Europa league, season tickets and merchandise etc., our Board has made a profit or will make a profit and have spent nothing to change that situation.
Beale stated he was happy with his transfer budget. Ok, he spent about 15 million, which I take was that budget. He should have also been given the money from player sales to ensure that we had a good chance at catching the Celtic treble winning team. But maybe not such a bad thing based on the players he has signed so far. At least a new Rangers manager will have some funds.
