Wolverhampton Wanderers Player Ratings from the Burnley Match

Wolverhampton Wanderers Player Ratings from the Burnley Match

Bentley 8 - Made 2 very good saves and was neat and tidy throughout.

Semedo 7 - Very solid performance and got forward far better than he normally does - such a good footballer if only he could consistently deliver what he promises.

Kilman 7 - Led the side well. Solid defensively and distributed impressively. Not surprising that he is allegedly a target for Chelsea this January!

Dawson 7 - Part of a very strong back 3 Won everything in the air and hardly put a foot wrong on the ground

Gomes T 7 - Not as good as he was vs Fulham, but impressed me once again! We may have a rough diamond on our hands!

Bueno H 6 - Looked a little rusty but still solid enough defensively

Lemina 7 -Covers so much ground, wins so many tackles, a really good signing and so reasonably priced! Does need to work on his diplomacy skills though as he seemed to be in another battle with the ref which hardly surprisingly, he once again lost! If he is not careful, he will be suspended again this season! Not sure why he gets no protection himself, but is booked for the first foul he makes?

Gomes 7 - As above but slightly better on the ball - looks like another really good signing!

Sarabia 6 - Neat and tidy, but lacks the pace to make it count. Would have been another wonder goal if he had converted Semedo's cross early on

Cunha 7 - Our most creative player.

Hwang 6 - Scored! Didn't do much else but got little service or support.

Subs:
Bellegarde 6 - Didn't really get into it but for the last 10-15 we were closing down the game and playing for time.

Doherty 6 - As above - did nothing wrong.

Traore 6 - Works hard but is several steps below our first choice CMs

GON 7 - We played too conservatively and cautiously but after a series of bad results away from home, this was a game we needed 3 points from and he got them so well done!

What this shows is that, as I have said several times already this year, whilst our first 11 is strong enough, we are short of depth. Not sure what, if any money we have to spend in January - assuming we hold on to everyone. But a cheap WF, AM and CF would be nice? That assumes Bueno S is up to being 4th CB, Doherty can be your back up RB and you can live with Doyle and Traore as DMs (OK as long as it is only one at a time). Bellegarde might be the answer to one or two of those questions, but not yet certain.
Thoughts?
