Football News: Is Glasgow Rangers In A Dire State?

Is Glasgow Rangers In A Dire State?

Aww well, think we can all agree Philippe Clement (PC) has run his race at Glasgow Rangers. Or I'd like to think he has? I'm glad Kris Boyd pointed out on a couple occasions tonight that Koppen also needs to take the blame, not just PC.

I've asked a few times on the Rangers Rumours site about Nils Koppen and the job he's doing. We didn't need 'Project' players and we didn't need last minute panic buys. We needed players who could play and make an immediate difference. So should Nils Koppen be relieved of his duties if PC is relieved of being the manager?

I said before that players should be committed to giving 100 percent. Tracking runners, winning the second balls, standing tall and being brave, but we never done that, we were none of those things.

Jimmy Thelin has quickly instilled a belief system into his Aberdeen players and a fighting mentality after they were a disaster, just look at the progress he's made in such a short space of time.

We can no longer talk about having a new manager and rebuilds. PC's had ample time to know his best 11, stick to it and get a system / philosophy in place so the players were fired up for the game tonight. But a fighting spirit again was nowhere to be seen.

But don't we have quality all over the Park? 👀 You wouldn't know it looking at the SPFL table tonight would you? 9 points behind Celtic sitting 3rd in the table with an oversized wage budget being spent on players who stated they could outlast the manager!

There is still a rotten core of players within this Rangers squad and i believe now that James Tavernier is a big part of the problem being captain. He's done nothing to note or shown that he wants our team and club to succeed. Has he lost heart and it's showing?

How can anyone say we have better players now? If they don't want to perform for whatever reason, whether it's not playing for the manager or just not wanting the club to succeed entirely, it doesn't matter how good they are.

Talk of rebuilds, well yes, we can now talk about rebuilds because the majority of this squad needs to go if we want a winning team on the park. We have regressed at an alarming rate and we have downgraded on players who had left.

It's now going to take serious money, serious management skills and serious decisions to be made at the Board level to really turn this around and it may take a serious amount of time to be able to do what's necessary.

I'm actually not sure the club is able to do the things that will need to be done, not this season anyway. Have we the correct people in charge to make the drastic changes and the money needed to make the changes happen? Honestly, I'm not sure we do.

Let me ask one question before i end; if the great late Sir Walter was here, would he be happy to continue to go down the road with Tavernier as captain, PC as manager and Koppen as director of football?

I would personally think no to all 3. We're in a dire situation. The entirety of the club i reckon is in a very bad state, but remember i worry too much.
