Football News: Rangers Slowly Improving Under Philippe Clement

Rangers Slowly Improving Under Philippe Clement

Don't know what everyone thinks, Philippe Clement's (PC) results have been abysmal this season in the league and his excuses sometimes annoy me even though some are totally valid. In my opinion i'd like to see us stick with him and here's why.

He's cleared the club of old players who were sucking the life out the club financially, which we all wanted to happen and knew had to happen.

He said he would make us more robust and i'd argue that he's starting to show that. Souttar has never played so many games and been immense, Raskin seems to be over his issues he's had since arriving and looking a real player now, Sterling we were all calling for him to replace Tav and it seems like PC was waiting until he could play consistently and he's doing that now! Hoping some of the others might follow suit, but we have to trust his method of leaving players until his team thinks they are ready because based on what we've seen re the players above! it works!

Danillo for example, we all want to see him play, but i'd rather he was ready to contribute consistently than have another setback. Same with Cortez and Yilmaz, even Matondo who i really like as a player. We now see Igamane coming out of the shadows again. PC said he needed time to adjust to playing at this level and be ready physically! We all moan about injuries, but on the other hand, we all want players like Danilo and Igamane thrown straight in can't have it both ways!

The performances in Europe show we're not as bad a team as domestic form suggests. Again, i think he's now in a position where he can drop Tav and Dessers with Duj being fit and Igamane and Danillo ready to play apart and the more players that return the less injuries we'll see IMO.

I don't think many managers could cope with what he's had to endure at Rangers. Starting a season with only Dessers ready to lead the line, and only a well past his prime Balogun or Propper who to me was a panic buy at CB. Fair enough we took Nsiala from Milan, but PC clearly stated he's a development player!

Then the exit of so many long-standing squad members, VERY limited funds to spend while cutting a wage bill. Add to that finding players to not only come in to play right away, but develop to make money! Again i'd argue he's done not bad, Igamane looks a real find, Jefte could go on to be anything, Barron been really good Cortez we'll wait and see. I even think Dio will prove to be good business, Bajrami good at the price and if we can keep Cerny, i'd be delighted! Propper looks crap though 😂.

All this has been going on with no one steering the ship at higher levels. It's been mad but it's starting to settle with people moving into positions in the club to let him concentrate on the squad! I think we'll see the best of this squad in the not too distant future. We won't catch Celtic, but there's no way Aberdeen beat us to second and like the rest of you seconds not good enough for me. But sometimes you've got to take a step back and look at what's been going on at the club, the position the board and Beale left us in Squad wise and let someone rebuild!

I don't think there's anyone out there that could have managed the club to beat Celtic this season with all that's gone on. I think PC can get it right if he's given time, but the club have to find a way to back him though because it's insanely difficult to topple a team that outspends you like Celtic are!

Just my thoughts 🔴⚪️🔵.
