Football News: Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart Needs More Time

After reading Patrick Stewart's (PS) statement, one thing stuck out for me, and it's something I am suffering from right now. Apathy!

I'm in my early 50's, and I have supported Rangers from as far back as I remember. I grew up in a single parent family, brought up by my mum who hated football, and with all my relatives being Tims, I actually never went to my first Rangers game until I was 11 when my older brother took me. But from that moment on, I was hooked.

I experienced the golden era of Glasgow Rangers in the mid 80's, right through 9 in a row, wee Dick's Dutch revolution, Big Eck's treble winning team, and the 2nd coming of the gaffer, and of course, most recently our 55 season.

But in between all of this, there were dark days like missing the 10, O'Neil coming in and ending Advocaat's reign, then the worst of them all, the darkest of all days, the relegation years. My God, those were bad days. The worst!

But, you know what?! During every black period I have experienced with our club, I've always been up for the fight! I've always felt we can get through whatever we are going through! I've always felt an anger to fight against all the crap! I travelled to some of the worst grounds in the country to help get us back, and never onced thought of giving up! But this feels different! Anger has been replaced by apathy in many a supporter! Why? I really think some have had enough. We just do not trust this Board. How much more can we take?

PS's statement might go down well with some, but I really fear for our club. When we have a guy like John on here, who is pretty much ingrained into the club, warning us it's only going to get worse, then it really is serious.

I think we need to give PS time to try and sort this almighty mess out. If bringing in external help for the review will help, then I'm all for it. Let's see if PS et al. can work some magic and give us fans some hope. Let's wait and see what can be done. Look, if it fails, then yes, we need to act, but we have got to give this a go, because the Status Quo is failing on its backside right now!

This season is a write off where the league is concerned, but there's still Europe and the Scottish Cup. Philippe Clement isn't going anywhere, so we need to show support (I know, I can't believe I'm posting this either), and we need to back our club! Because, if we don't, this basket case of a club, who we all love so much, might not be here in a few years. So, what would we do then? Buy a Partick Thistle scarf? Bawz to that!
