Football News: Have Glasgow Rangers Lost Something Deeper?

Have Glasgow Rangers Lost Something Deeper?

Never will I write a post more true than this about Glasgow Rangers:

1. 4 games, 4 points.

2. Martin isn't going anywhere.

3. Dessers is leaving.

4. Raskin is leaving.

5. Martin has the board's backing.

6. We probably need at least 4 new signings, but realistically only 2 might arrive before the window closes.

Looking across the signings so far, I'd say it's no where near good enough. At first, I thought we had strengthened that we'd replaced outgoing players with better ones. I jumped the gun. I was wrong to suggest that. Hopefully, I'll be proved wrong again in the right way, but at the moment I don't see it.

The latest Old Firm was the worst I've seen in years. No fight, no creativity, no passion, no understanding, no love for the occasion. We looked completely devoid of ideas. I didn't recognise that Rangers team but to be fair, I don't think Celtic fans would recognise theirs either. It was just two sides playing out a goalless draw.

Martin isn't moving, he's solid in his beliefs, and he's being backed. But the reality is clear:

1. We don't have a midfielder who can take control, dictate the tempo, or drag the game by the scruff of the neck.

2. We don't have a defence capable of keeping clean sheets.

3. Any team that decides to have a go at us looks like they'll beat us

4. Martin isn't budging. He's standing firm in his thinking he is right in saying we'll feel more pain before we feel joy. But right now, it feels like we've lost our identity. Watching that match today, I couldn't shake the sense that something was missing: the passion, the understanding, the love for the badge.

This takeover may well bring success down the line, but it also feels like we've lost something deeper. And as I write this, I finally realise what it is, our Identity, values, and connection to the club unity? Don't think the owners will ever get it and with that I repeat this famous but never forgotten quote,

No matter the days of anxiety that come our way, we shall emerge stronger because of the trials to be overcome.

Always remember that your obligation to Rangers is to play for the jersey. To win for it, to fight for it, to sweat for it, to finish with the jersey saturated in your effort. You may never play for a team with more tradition, more history, or more pride than Rangers. Maybe the new owners should digest that?
