Football News: Thoughts On The Liverpool v Crystal Palace Match

Thoughts On The Liverpool v Crystal Palace Match

Hope everyone is well, Long time off this but interested to go through now and hear some of your thoughts on the Liverpool v Crystal Palace match. Thought i would share my take on Saturday and in general.

All around i thought the first half was absolutely abysmal, i don't think i've seen a worse half under Arne Slot? His team selection was a bit off for me, as playing Wirtz off the left seemed a bit mad. I understand why in some ways as Palace are dangerous on the break, however that early goal threw it out the window.

I would of personally played Wirtz in the middle and Chiesa out wide as he has been good as of late, why not give him a go? On Wirtz too, it seems the lad is getting a lot of grief and i don't think it's fair at the minute. I think he is trying to pick the ball up in pockets and our team is occupying them spaces at times, which is then causing him to drop deeper to get on the ball.

Salah too, i mentioned this a couple of weeks back and got a bit of stick for saying about him going and being off the boil. At the moment he has been really poor. I think Mo covers at times a bad performance with a goal or assist and if he doesn't get either he rarely plays well IMO, I understand it is hard when teams sit deep but some of his all around play has been really off, i can only really think of Athletico where he has been really good.

Konate as well as Ed says or if not i shall say he is just braindead. Too invested in winning the 1/1 duels with the other player, reminds me of shades of Lovren wanting to make the opposition player feel inferior.

Frimpong's cameo was awful, the lad is known for his speed and had plenty of chances to bomb on Saturday and ended up overthinking it and losing the ball. He has plenty to learn, but i don't see him being a started in the tougher games. I think the same with Bradley he is a bit of a headless chicken at times, but i would prefer him to Frimpong. It is a concern when Dom is performing there best over the 2.

Macca seems like he's not all there fitness wise and sharpness, ever since we heard of that injury he seems well off it, his passing, his touch, it's like watching a pensioner this season.

Some worrying signs, but we have been far worse off being top of the league with some tricky fixtures. Saturday was never going to be easy, but onwards and upwards.
