Football News: It Will Work Out In The End For Liverpool FC
The Liverpool FC team is very disjointed at the minute. If we were dancing it would be an ugly dance for sure. There is no fluidity. We have maybe two or three nice passages of play in each game where you can see how it might all work but the rest of the game is spent with players standing on top of each other and getting in eachothers road.
We don't try a forward / through ball when it's on but try it when it's not. We switch the ball to the other flank in a predictable slow pattern that is so familiar that teams know what's coming and have the time to reset. We need to be braver in terms of playing through the lines when it's on to be done instead of passing the ball to the closest man to you. It's like a dot to dot drawing at times.
Even when playing it safe our passing is so bad at times it's clear that the players are in their own heads, playing with the fear of making a mistake. This is often what leads to the mistake as passes are underhit or a ball released too early.
I guess half a team of new players might do that to you. Despite all the worry the biggest concern for me is Konate's form. He looks half the player at the minute and we need him back to a consistent run of games of the form he is capable of.
Hugo is a early bright spark and we have points on the board despite the poor form. It could be a bit of a consistency rollercoaster till Christmas, but the quality has to come to the top, eventually. If we can stay in and around the leaders or be the leaders ourselves come the turn of the year, we have a good shot at retaining the title.
Football is a funny old game. Things can change quickly. If we can beat chelsea and utd in our next two games, it steadies the ship a little. I don't think the results so far are papering over cracks. I think they are allowing us to wade through a slow start and some problems with cohesion. We might see the same 11 in both those games.
For me Bradley needs to start at right back and Dom needs to be in midfield. Wirtz's game time only makes sense at left forward at the moment. Unless we bring in a machine of a DM I don't see him working as a 3 in our midfield. Him and Macca in a 3 sucks the pace right out of our middle.
It's all a bit of a hard watch at the minute but I have faith slot and in turn the players will put the pieces together. Wirtz, Hugo and Isak would have been a 3 most teams would have bitten your hand off to have in one window.
It will all work out in the end.
