Football News: Current Thoughts On Glasgow Rangers

Current Thoughts On Glasgow Rangers

I really think we need to take a long hard look at ourselves. Firstly Glasgow Rangers are not looking for a manager - the job title is first team coach. The media and fans talk about a manager it's, not going to happen hence Gerrard walking away.

Derek McInnes won't leave Hearts, he has a cushtie number there and he is the manager. As long as Thelwell is sporting director, we will never have a manager. It looks to me that Danny Rohl as first team coach will be in charge very soon. Not my choice I would have liked Marco Rose and that was before Martin got the job.

Rohl has a good background and not done too badly, all things considered. He is young, German and yes we are a big club, but, we play in a 'diddy' league. The good old days are long gone and for the moment, we are trying to start again properly from the bottom up.

When King walked out and the bus driver took over, Steven Gerrard (SG) didn't get the backing - pure and simple. Directors owed repayment of loans were first in the queue. SG left and poor Gio Van Bronckhorst didn't really get backed and to an extent neither did big Phil Clement.

The four year contract he got was intended to keep him here as, all the directors new full well about the possible takeover including Gilligan who stepped in as deputy chairman. The new owners obviously didn't fancy big Phil, so he signed the non disclosure and rode into the sunset.

I was sorry to see him go. With the financial backing he could have brought success to us in time. He was and will be again a successful manager just not here. Like it or not he carried the club on his shoulder - nobody else came out and answered questions.

I don't come on here very often, I'm 73 now and have 2/3 stage dementia among other health issues. It saddens me to see all the bitching and back biting on here. Seriously it needs to stop. We are a big, very proud, World famous club beholding a lot of traditions. Let's all keep that in mind, especially the younger fans. Let's not put the famous Glasgow Rangers down. I like nothing better than humping Celtic and rile my next door neighbour, but it's all in good fun.

I think I've lost track a bit, but if it ends up being Danny Rohl, then I will support him one hundred percent and let's give the lad a chance. As long as I remember, I will still look on here from time to time, and I wish every success to our club and the new owners. I honestly believe things will come good. just be patient. All best everyone.
