Glasgow Rangers' Struggles Highlight Growing Concerns

A reflection on Rangers' performance, player form, loan failures and the increasing need for a major rebuild under Danny Röhl.
Performance and First Impressions
I didn't see the Rangers v Braga match last night, but judging by the reaction across social media, it doesn't sound like the team played particularly well. Even so, taking a point is still some form of progress in Europe this season, especially considering how poor the group has looked at times and how little consistency we've managed to build.
Raskin's Struggles
As for Raskin, it's fair to ask whether he was a one-season wonder. He hasn't looked the same at all this year. To be fair, the early-season chaos under Martin definitely played a part, but at this stage he's running out of excuses. His influence has dropped, and he isn't providing the control or presence we expected from him.
Barron's Consistency
Is anyone else noticing that every time Barron plays, whether he starts or comes off the bench, he consistently gets praised for his work rate? You always see comments like, "At least Barron is trying," which is more than can be said for others right now. I genuinely think he deserves a starting spot going forward. At the moment, he's offering more than Raskin and Dio combined, and his attitude alone is lifting the midfield slightly.
Challenges for Danny Röhl
Danny Röhl was always up against it when he arrived, and it looks like the Americans realise it now as well, which is why they moved on the three main figures responsible for assembling this squad. He's been handed a group with too many gaps, not enough leadership and far too many passengers.
Loan Signings and Recruitment
Djiga should be sent back in January if possible. The same goes for Aarons. Both have offered next to nothing, and the money spent on these loans has felt like a complete waste. Gassama flatters to deceive too, simply not good enough for where Rangers need to be. We need better quality on both wings. Antman and Gassama should be moved on, and Aasgaard as well, who never looked at the required level from the start. You have to wonder who scouted these players and how their names even reached the recruitment team.
Squad Motivation and Future Decisions
Miovski doesn't look especially committed either and will almost certainly be moved on. To be honest, there isn't much in this squad I'd be desperate to keep if we're aiming for a winning Rangers team and a successful club going forward. Too many players look short of desire, and too few look capable of raising the standard.
What Comes Next
The Americans will need to open the chequebook in January and again in the summer. As much as I hate using the word "rebuild," that is exactly where we are yet again. Another long, draining rebuild to try to get this club back on track. As for Tavernier, regardless of differing opinions, he's ageing, and he no longer carries the captain's presence, hunger or authority. A new captain feels necessary.
And dare I say it, does anyone remember my comments about Barron when he first arrived? Could he be a future captain and finally fulfill my prophecy?
