Football News: Ronaldo sets new Real Madrid record

Real Madrid may have failed to set a new record for wins on the trot yesterday, but Cristiano Ronaldo became a Madrid record setter.

His 13th minute penalty at the Mestalla against Valencia set a new mark for away goals scored by a Madrid player.

Ronaldo has now scored 88 goals in 91 away games, surpassing legendary striker Raul's 87 away goals.

It was the only bit of cheer for Madrid, who failed to win for the first time in 23 matches, as they were beaten 2-1 by Valencia.

Madrid will now aim to start a new winning run next week against cross town rival Atletico Madrid.
