Kris Commons' deflected goal moved Celtic three points clear in the Scottish Premiership with a 1-0 win over Ross County in today's early kick-off.

From the start it was obvious that County were looking to close down Celtic and not allow them the space or time to find their passing game, the home side were determined not to repeat the mistakes that seen them suffer a 5-0 drubbing the last time the champions visited the Global Energy Stadium in October.

In a scrappy first half both sides made what's best described as half-chances with Commons and Griffiths both failing to find the net for the visitors and Graham Carey's powerful drive testing Craig Gordon.
The second half began with Celtic pushing forward and it took a Jamie Reckord intervention to stop Commons scoring after Griffiths' initial effort was blocked by Staggies 'keeper Reguero.

The breakthrough for Celtic finally came in the 52nd minute when Kriss Commons long range drive deflected off County captain Paul Quinn and dipped into the net over the head of Reguero who could do nothing to stop it.

After that the game just went back to being hard to watch as Celtic tried to find the killer second goal and Ross County tried to score on the counter-attack.

The home side did look more dangerous in the final 10 minutes but their best chance was Scott Boyd's low drive which never looked like troubling Craig Gordon.

All in all it wasn't much to watch as enjoyable football goes but a win's a win and it gives Celtic some room at the top of the table after Aberdeen only managed a 1-1 draw last night.
