Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, having returned from his loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, has joined Derby County on loan for the second half of the season.

Bent has fallen out of favour at Villa Park, ending up spending all last season on loan at Fulham and this season making just 8 appearances for Villa, just one being a start, before his loan to Brighton.

Derby manager Steve McLaren is excited about having the ex-England striker in his squad:

"We are delighted to welcome Darren Bent to Derby County for the rest of the season," McClaren told Derby's website.

"I've worked with him in the past and he brings significant Premier League and international experience with him.

"We're braced for an exciting second half of the season and Darren certainly brings big game experience with him."
