Review of the Day

Transfers

Defender Tosin Adarabioyo (who is dissapointingly not Welsh with a surname ending boyo he should be) has joined West Bromwich Albion for a season long loan from Manchester City. Man City have also allowed Serbian midfielder Luka Ilic to go loan, this time to NAC Breda of the Dutch Eredivisie.

Cheltenham Town have made their 13th and 14th signings of the summer as French free agent striker Kalvin Lumbombo Kalala joins on a short-term deal and manager Gary Johnson talks his son Lee into loaning him defender Aden Baldwin until January. Lee Johnson is currently managing Bristol City in the Championship.

Former Newcastle United youth player Adam Campbell has joined Carlisle United on loan from Morecambe until January.

Stevenage's 15th signing of the transfer window is Swiss goalkeeper Seny Dieng on loan from QPR until January.

Ipswich Town have taken midfielder Tayo Edun on a season-long loan from Fulham.

A triple transfer swoop was made by Walsall. Two defenders were brought in from West Brom, Jack Fitzwater and Kane Wilson both arrived on loan. Striker Morgan Ferrier has been bought for an undisclosed fee from National League side Boreham Wood.

Winger Dexter Walters has become Coventry City's 10th signing of the summer as he arrives from Conference North side Tamworth.

Scunthorpe United have made a double signing as midfielder Matthew Lund and forward George Thomas join the club. Lund has been bought for an undisclosed fee, while Thomas has come in from Leicester City on a season-long loan.

Stoke City defender Ryan Sweeney has joined Mansfield Town on a season-long loan.

Championship side Wigan Athletic have made a double signing. Left-back Antonee Robinson is on a season-long loan from Everton, while Darron Gibson has joined on a short term deal after his release from Sunderland to fill a vacancy on the treatment table.

Defender Matthew Platt has joined Accrington Stanley on loan from Blackburn Rovers for the season.

Yeovil Town have made a double signing. Middlesbrough midfielder Alex Pattison has joined on loan for the season while winger Wes McDonald has signed a deal until January following his release by Birmingham City.

Veteran free agent Gary O'Neil, who left Bristol City in May, has signed for Bolton Wanderers.

Forward Malachi Napa has joined Macclesfield Town on loan from Oxford United until January.

Motherwell have sold Ivory Coast centre back Cedric Kipre to Wigan Athletic for a fee of around £1m.

Nottingham Forest have allowed defender Michael Mancienne to leave for Major League Soccer side New England Revolution on a free transfer.

Leicester City have sold Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr for an undisclosed fee of £15m. Musa had struggled to impress in England, which saw him sent on loan back to CSKA Moscow last season. However a good World Cup inspired interest in the 25 year old speedster.

Barcelona have splashed out over £16m to sign 31 year old Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich, despite the recurring knee problems the powerhouse box-to-box man has suffered.

SPFL side Hibernian have taken forward Jamie MacLaren on loan from SV Darmstadt 98 of the German Bundesliga 2.

Legendary forward Samuel Eto'o has been released by Konyaspor of the Turkish Super Lig.

Rooney Denies Money Motivation

Despite receiving a large pay rise as part of the deal, Adam Rooney has denied that he left Aberdeen to join Salford City for the money. The forward says that it was not because his pay packet doubled, but instead chose to move for a "new challenge".

Iwobi Delight At New Deal

The latest news from Arsenal has delighted opposing fans as Alex 'Jay-Jay Okocha's Nephew' Iwobi has signed a new long-term contract with the Gunners. Though it appears Unai Emery is a little unclear as to who he is with his comments connecting Iwobi with hard work! Emery said: "I'm very pleased Alex has signed a new contract. He is a great example of a player who can succeed from the academy through hard work and I look forward to working with him and our other talented young players in the squad." So that makes three of the players who stand out as symptoms of Arsenal's decline in recent years, Iwobi, Granit Xhaka and Calum Chambers, all signed for the long term.

Butcher Quits Philippines Job Before First Match

Former England captain Terry Butcher has quit his job as head coach of the Philippines without taking charge of a single match. The 59 year old took over on a 2-year contract in June as the 'Azkals' looked to prepare for their first ever attempt at the Asian Nations Championship in January in the UAE. Butcher was appointed amidst much fanfare as the Philippines looked to build up a following for football, which is a minor sport on the islands, where basketball and volleyball are king.

Pedro Signs Chelsea Contract Extension

Former Barcelona forward Pedro has signed a one-year contract extension with London club Chelsea. The 31 year old is now tied to Stamford Bridge (or whatever the new stadium will be called) until 2020. Maybe the Spaniard will be able to finally show some consistency in his game as he enters the veteran stages of his career.

Arsenal Injuries Continue

While there was good news on the injury front with Aaron Ramsey recovering from one of his numerous injury breaks, there was also some bad news for new manager Unai Emery. Left-back Sead Kolsinac has been ruled out for 2 months after picking up a knee injury during a pre-season match with Chelsea.

Jesus Signs Contract Extension

Neymar's mate Gabriel Jesus has signed a contract extension with Manchester City. The striker managed 17 goals last season for Citeh but his World Cup was disappointing in the summer as the 21 year old started every match for Brazil but offered little to nothing other than his friendship with Neymar Jr.
