Football News: Poyet looks to pass on the buck
Gus Poyet has rejected talk of him being Sunderland manager, claiming he is merely the head coach as he bemoans the club's lack of quality.
Poyet told BBC Sport: "I am a head coach. I am not going to be a head coach when it suits and a manager when it doesn't. That side is down to recruitment."
"I want more quality. Do I think I'll get it? I don't know. You know what is missing. It is clear what we need to do. That is down to recruitment."
Is he just looking to remove himself from blame for the struggling Wearside team's relegation battle, or does the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager have a point?
His predecessor Paulo di Canio also denied signing the 14 players that arrived during his time in charge in the summer of 2013.
