Football News: Veli Kavlak looks set to snub Everton and Southampton to stay in Turkey.

It looks like Besiktas midfielder Veli Kavlak will snub a move to the Premier League to sign a two-year contract extension with the Super Lig club.

The 26-year-old Austrian's contract expires at the end of the season and Everton, Leicester City and Southampton were all hoping for the chance to tempt Kavlar to move to England as a Bosman signing next summer. German sides Stuttgart and Borussia Monchengladbach and Napoli from Italy are also monitoring Kavlak's contract situation.

Conflicting reports coming out of Turkey now claim the Premier League trio will miss out on Kavlak with him keen to extend his stay in Istanbul and land a bumper pay-rise from Besiktas who currently sit in 2nd place in the Super Lig, one point behind leaders Fenerbahce and with a game in hand.

Kavlak's agent, Max Hagmayr, is playing his cards close to his chest and he recently stated,

"Veli is a player with great club and international experience so it is natural for clubs to be interested in him. He has performed at a high level consistently for Besiktas so it should it is no surprise that these clubs want to sign him."

Now, with just over a week away from January 1st, Besiktas will have to act quickly to get the 30 times capped Austrian international tied to a new deal before other clubs will be allowed to table their pre-contract offers.
