Celtic manager Ronny Deila has spoken out and said that Virgil van Dijk and Kris Commons will not be leaving the club during this transfer window.

"I have said that all the time, we want to keep all our best players, to get someone out of Celtic now is going to be very hard."

Van Dik has attracted the interest of several English clubs including Arsenal and Sunderland while the length of contract offered to Commons by the Scottish champions remains a bone of contention with ex-Celtic manager Neil Lennon keen to reunite with Commons at Bolton.

Commons is looking for a two-year-deal but Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell has only offered a year's extension. On the Commons' contract stalemate Deila said,

"Yes, there is a chance for that but you have demands from the club and demands from the player and you have to meet each other with a good deal for both."

When asked if he was worried about losing Commons, he replied, "Nothing worries me. To be at Celtic is fantastic."

"The players who are here have to want to be here and Kris wants to be here.

"Kris showed in the game last week against Kilmarnock that he can be in
a Celtic team that I coach. He has been in the team so many times this year."

"If he plays the way he did last week he is going to been an important player for us."

"He will stay here until the end of the season. Virgil van Dijk is also staying. We want to strengthen the squad."

Deila, who also admitted he wants to add Gary Mackay-Steven to the Parkhead ranks, takes his team to Hamilton this weekend knowing a win is vital to keep in touch with Aberdeen in the title race.

The Norwegian will be hoping that spending the last week in the sunshine of Gran Canaria will have recharged his squads batteries, and helped bond the squad, for the gruelling fixture list which lies ahead.

In February there is a vital Europa League tie against Inter Milan, a tricky Scottish Cup tie away to Dundee not to mention the month starts with the League Cup semi-final against the team currently playing out of Ibrox.

The cynical amongst us must be thinking whether Peter Lawwell would accept a bid from Neil Lennon's Bolton for Kris Commons that would cover the £250,000 Dundee Utd are reported to want for Mackay-Steven rather than wait to bring him in for free in the summer.
