Transfers

St Mirren have made a double signing, the first since Alan Stubbs took charge. The pair have both come from English non-league football, defender Josh Heaton from Darlington, for a fee of around £75,000 and striker Cody Cooke from Truro. The pair had come through Jamie Vardy's V9 Academy.

Carlisle United have picked up free agent midfielder George Glendon following his release from Fleetwood Town.

Ross County have bolstered their defence with free agent pair Callum Morris and Keith Watson.

Leicester City have sold left-back Connor Wood to Bradford City for an undisclosed fee.

In possibly the longest-running transfer saga this summer, Emre Can has finally joined Juventus after his Liverpool contract expired. It is being reported that the German international, despite not making the World Cup squad, has been given a signing on fee of £14m.

Manchester United have completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk. The 25 year old has signed a 5 year deal after moving for a fee of around £47m.

Everton's Argentine defender Ramiro Funes Mori has moved to Villareal on an undisclosed fee. Funes Mori had suffered badly with injuries during his time with the Toffees.

Sunderland's new boss Jack Ross has made his first signing. Turkish defender Alim Ozturk has arrived on a free after leaving Boluspor.

A double signing has been made by League Two's Morecambe. Rhys Oates has joined from Hartlepool United and Zak Mills has arrived from Grimsby Town. Both players were free agents.

Mitch Hancox has left Macclesfield Town, after turning down the offer of a new deal, to sign for MK Dons as a free agent.

Peterborough United have sold left-back Andrew Hughes for an undisclosed fee. The full-back has moved to Championship side Preston North End.

Louis Dodds has agreed a return to Port Vale on a season-long loan from Chesterfield, who were relegated from the EFL last season.

Free agent defender Carl Dickinson has signed for Yeovil Town. The 31 year old left Notts County at the end of the season.

Oxford United have taken Samir Carruthers on loan for the season. The 25 year old is currently contracted to Sheffield United.

Joel Byrom has returned for a second spell with Stevenage, following his release from Mansfield Town.

Former Blackpool defender Will Aimson, who was released at the end of the season, has signed a two-year deal with Bury.

Brighton & Hove Albion's young Norwegian Henrik Bjordal has left the club to move to Belgian side Zulte Waregem.

Spanish centre back Alexis has left Spanish football following his release from Alaves. The veteran defender will be plying his trade in Saudi Arabia with Al Ahli next season. Fellow Spaniard Jose Manuel Jurado has also joined after he left Espanyol.

Toon Defender Attacked On Holiday

Republic of Ireland international Ciaran Clark had to be taken to hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning after being knocked unconscious by another man following an argument at Crystal's Bar in Magaluf. The Newcastle United player has suffered cuts and bruises to his face. A British man in his 30s was arrested and charged with criminal injuries.

Lennon Gets Another Ban

Hibs manager Neil Lennon has been handed a three match ban following his celebrations after his team scored a late equaliser in a 5-5 draw with Rangers in May. He was found guilty of misconduct, after running onto the pitch doing an aeroplance impression, receiving a one-match ban. However that triggered a further two-match ban that had been suspended earlier in the season. It does seem a bit harsh to me, though I have to admit I think Lennon brings a lot of his problems on himself with his attitude, which is all aggression and confrontation, but this time it all seems a bit harsh. He takes a huge amount of abuse at Rangers, it is no wonder he was so happy to get the point, then you look at the score and how it must have been an emotional rollercoaster of a game. It just feels like common sense was cast aside simply because of who it is.

Ronaldo Shirt Claims Denied By Referee

Watford's Moroccan international winger Nordin Amrabat had claimed the referee, Mark Geiger, had asked Cristiano Ronaldo for his shirt during the Portugal-Morocco clash. Amrabat said Portugese international diver, oh sorry, Portugese international defender Pepe had told him of the referee's request. Geiger has "categorically" denied the allegations.

Burger King Apologise Over World Cup Advertising Campaign

American fast food giant Burger King have apologised for a social media campaign they ran which offered a free lifetime supply of Whoppers and 3 million roubles to any Russian woman who fell pregnant to a football celebrity. The advert asked Russian women to ensure the success of the Russian team for generations to come by getting the good genes from top footballers. They have now apologised for their "clearly offensive" campaign.

Nagelsmann To Take Charge Of RBL

Young Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann is set to leave his post as head coach of Hoffenheim to take over at RB Leipzig at the end of the forthcoming season. The 30 year old has agreed a contract that will keep him in charge at Leipzig until 2023. RBL will now need to appoint a coach for next season after Ralph Hasenhuttl left at the end of last season.
