Transfers

Chelsea youngster Fikayo Tomori has moved to join Frank Lampard Jr's Derby County side for a season-long loan. American keeper Matt Miazga has also left Chelsea on loan, to join FC Nantes of Ligue 1.

Barnsley have paid an undisclosed fee to sign teenage midfielder Callum Styles from Bury. Styles will stay at Bury on loan until January.

Adam Armstrong has moved to Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee of just over £1.5m. The Newcastle United striker spent the second half of last season on loan with Rovers.

Aston Villa have re-signed Axel Tuanzebe on loan from Manchester United. The 20 year old was on loan with Villa last season, though his time was badly injury hit.

Newcastle and West Brom have agreed a swap deal for season-long loans of strikers. Dwight Gayle will spend next season with the Baggies, while Salomon Rondon went the other way.

La Liga side Huesca have signed Serdar Gurler from Turkish side Osmanlispor for about £2.25m.

Argentine centre back Matias Silvestre has moved from Sampdoria to Empoli.

West Ham youngster Sead Haksabanovic has joined Malaga on loan.

1.FSV Mainz 05 have paid a loan fee of over £2.5m to Espanyol to loan left-back Aaron Caricol for the season.

Nigerian winger Moses Simon has been bought by Spanish La Liga side Levante for £4.5m from KAA Gent.

Carpi have released Jerry Mbakogu, who has been linked with Leeds United all summer.

VfL Wolfsburg have paid a fee of over £7m to sign Jerome Roussillon from Montpellier.

Axel Witsel has moved away from Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian after Borussia Dortmund paid £18m to sign the Belgian midfielder.

Former Liverpool forward Krisztian Nemeth has been traded to Sporting Kansas City from fellow MLS side New England Revolution.

Championship Considers World Cup 2022 Break

EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey has admitted that the Football League are considering putting a break in the 2022-23 Championship season during the World Cup. Harvey said: "It might be that we don't play some Championship games during that period. We have already said we need to take a look at what it actually means for our clubs. The statistics say that the majority of [EFL] players are back available after the group stage. We are going to have to consult with the clubs, and there is any number of answers that we are going to need from Fifa about being able to broadcast games during that period. We have got to be careful with scheduling, as you wouldn't want live games going on in this country at the same time as an England quarter-final, semi-final or final. But I don't see any logic why League One and League Two should stop during 2022-23. In a 46-game season, you can't afford to lose any opportunities. You've also got to remember that a lot of the leagues, which effectively run from March to October, play during the World Cup anyway. It is all to be discussed and decided."

Tanzania Appoint Amuneke

Former Nigerian international winger Emmanuel Amuneke has been appointed as head coach for the national team of Tanzania. Amuneke was previously coach of Sudan Premier League side Al Khartoum SC and has signed a two year contract with the Tanzanian FA. Amuneke was highly regarded as a youth coach, with a heavy involvement in two of Nigeria's FIFA U17 World Cup wins and will oversee Tanzania's youth teams, as well as taking charge of the first team.

Burnley Move For Clucas Falls Through

Despite agreeing a fee for Swansea City midfielder Sam Clucas, Burnley's move for the utility player has fallen through after they were unable to agree personal terms. Swansea are looking to sell the player to fund their own transfer moves. Manager Graham Potter has confirmed that Crystal Palace are interested in taking top scorer Jordan Ayew.

Fulham Close To Chambers Loan

Fulham have agreed a deal with Arsenal to take former Southampton defender Calum Chambers on loan for the season. They still have to sort out personal terms. The Cottagers have already added Alfie Mawson and Maxime le Marchand to strengthen their defence this summer.

Wolves Agree Traore Fee

Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a club record fee with Middlesbrough to sign jet-heeled Spanish winger Adama Traore. The 22 year old former Barcelona forward is set to have a medical today.

Toon Refuse To Co-Operate With Media

Newcastle players have refused to co-operate with the media as they are in dispute with the club over bonuses. The players failed to turn up for the 'walk-up shots' used by TV companies when showing the line-ups before games. They have also been refusing to do post-match interviews after pre-season friendlies.

Blackpool Manager Walks After Just One Game Of The Season

Gary Bowyer has quit Blackpool after the first game of the season. Bowyer had led them back up to League One, following their catastrophic collapse under owners the Oyston family, which had taken them down from the Premier League to League Two in short order. After keeping Blackpool in League One last season, Bowyer has walked away.

Hammers Close To Another Signing

West Ham United's rebuild is set to take another step closer to completion as they are close to adding Lucas Perez from Arsenal. The Spanish forward was on loan with Deportivo La Coruna last season as he was unable to force his way into the Gunners side.

Willian Wants Chelsea Stay

Willian admits Barcelona were interested in signing him, but he is not looking to leave Chelsea this summer. Willian said: "I always made it clear that what I wanted was to stay in the club. The only club I knew that really made an official offer for me was Barcelona. I have my head here and I intend to continue in the club unless the club wants to sell me."

Courtois Speculation Ramps Up

While Willian wants to stay with Chelsea, Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois has been talking about how much he wants to go back to Madrid to live since, pretty much, the day he arrived in London. With speculation rife that Real Madrid will be making a move for him, Courtois missed training on Monday, just a few days after manager Maurizio Sarri asked him to make clear whether he wants to stay or not.

What On Earth?

I just have to ask, what on earth is going on when West Bromwich Albion have a new mascot - a boiler. No, really, it is just a boiler on legs. Not for the Baggies is the lion, fox, tiger or anything else interesting. Why would they when they could have a combi boiler? No doubt the moment it gets cold 'Colin the Combi' will breakdown. Come back Cyril the Swan, please!
