Football News: AC Milan's De Jong to join namesake?

With the increased interest in acquiring the services of Cheick Tiote, Newcastle have begun the search for a replacement for the Ivory Coast midfielder.

One who has caught their eye is AC Milan's Dutch powerhouse Nigel De Jong, who will be able to sign a pre-contract with the Toon in the new year.

De Jong's experience of the English Premier League while at Manchester City is seen as a good reason to bring him to the north east.

It does make you wonder if Mike Ashley has got a cheap batch of shirts with the name 'De Jong' on the back with the wrong number for Siem though!

Perhaps they were left over from his brother Luuk's time at the club and Sports Direct are preparing to sell them off?

Either that or Alan Pardew just likes the name, as Nigel would be the 3rd De Jong to play for Newcastle under his management!
