Football News: Franz Beckenbauer predicts 'Robo-Refs' will become reality.

German legend and Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer has came out and said that the use of technology in football will go far beyond goal-line cameras and that referees will be eventually replaced by robots as the use of technology expands within the game.

The Bundesliga has approved the use of goal-line technology for the 2015-16 season but Beckenbauer feels even referees could ultimately become obsolete and we could soon see drones hovering over the pitch to officiate games.

"At some point, we won't even need a referee any more. Drones will be keeping an eye on whatever happens on the pitch at some point.' said Beckenbauer.

Now I know this sounds far fetched but the reason the story caught my eye was because of an old picture (attached) I recently came across on my computer of the vision of football stadia in the future from 1962.
