Football News: McCarthy to be offered improved deal at Goodison.

Everton are ready to start contract negotiations with James McCarthy as they try keeping the young Irishman at Goodison for the foreseeable future. McCarthy is only in the second year of the five year deal he signed in 2013 so his current deal not expiring until 2018 this looks like a move by the Merseyside club to give McCarthy a pay-rise and an extension to help fight off recent interest from Arsenal and any other possible suitors.

The new deal would ensure that Everton would get top dollar if there was a parting of the ways with McCarthy in the future, a parting some think is inevitable if the player has ambitions to play in the Champions League and challenge for honours.
