Scholes Fined

Paul Scholes has been fined £8,000 for breaking FA rules on betting. Scholes said: "I would like to apologise and I understand and fully accept the fine imposed by the FA. It was a genuine mistake and was not done with any deliberate intention to flout the rules. I wrongly believed that as long as there was no personal connection between me and any of the matches that I bet upon, then there would be no issue. However I understand now that this is not the case and I should have taken steps to verify this at the time."

Neymar Ban Upheld

UEFA have rejected Paris Saint-Germain's appeal against a 3-match European ban for Neymar. The 27 year old rolling expert was charged with insulting match officials. The Brazilian whiner was doing what he does best, whining, with regard to a penalty awarded against the Parisian's which knocked them out of the Champions League against Manchester United.

Brazil Booed Off Again

Brazil were once again booed off the pitch in the Copa America, this time at full-time and half-time after the hosts were held to a 0-0 draw by Venezuela. Three goals were ruled out by VAR as Brazil had nearly 70% possession but struggled to break down their resolute opponents. Brazil manager Tite said: "We have to understand the supporters, they want to see goals and if I had been in the crowd I also would have wanted to boo us."

Enrique Quits Spain Job

Luis Enrique has quit as manager of Spain after less than a year in charge for personal reasons. The president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales said: "It was a decision Luis Enrique took himself, which we are grateful for. We will have a perfect memory of him. It's a personal matter which doesn't depend on us. We think it's the best thing to do. We are convinced that the best response is the most prepared team, and that team is represented by Robert [Moreno] and his group, who arrived with Luis Enrique." Enrique has not taken charge of the team since March, due to "a family matter of an urgent nature" and has now stepped down to allow his assistant, Roberto Moreno, to take charge officially. Moreno took control for the last 3 games and Spain have won all three.

Giampaolo In Charge Of Milan

AC Milan have turned to Marco Giampaolo to replace Gennaro Gattuso. Giampaolo led Sampdoria to 9th place in Serie A before leaving them at the end of the season. He will be working with Zvonimir Boban and Paolo Maldini, who have both taken up new posts at the Milanese in recent days.

UEFA Fine Trio For Breaching FFP Regs

Marseille have been fined 2m euros for breaking financial fair play rules which I am sure will be helpful in ensuring they do not break them next time around. CFR Cluj of Romania and Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan have been also been fined 200,000 euros each.
