Orient Ask Embleton To Step In

Following the sad and untimely death of manager Justin Edinburgh a few days ago, League Two club Leyton Orient have appointed Ross Embleton as caretaker head coach. Club captain Jobi McAnuff has taken up a role as a player-coach while Danny Webb has stepped up to become interim assistant. Embleton said to the club's official website: "No-one will ever forget Justin. I'm privileged to be stepping into this opportunity to try to be able to help club through what is going to be a very, very tough period."

Warnock Denies There Have Been Bids For Etheridge

Speculation has been rife in the media that Cardiff City have been fending off bids for Philippines international goalkeeper Neil Etheridge after he impressed many in the Premier League last season. The talk was only heightened by Cardiff interest in Newport County keeper Joe Day but Bluebirds manager Neil Warnock has denied receiving any bids for the 29 year old former Chelsea player. Warnock said: "We're looking at how we can get more competition in all sorts of areas and goalkeeping is one. I've had no offers whatsoever for Neil. I've read comments that we've turned down an £8m offer from this club and that club, but I've not received any phone calls and I don't think [Cardiff chief executive] Ken Choo has. We're quite happy about that. We think the squad that we've got, the goalkeepers that we've got, are very good."

Tigers Make McCann Approach

Hull City have made an official approach for Doncaster Rovers manager Grant McCann as they seek to replace Nigel Adkins. Adkins left the Tigers last week after being unable to agree a new deal. McCann took Rovers to a 6th place finish in League One last season and they were knocked out of the play-offs in the semi-finals by Charlton Athletic.

Bhoys Brings In Hammond

Celtic have brought in Nick Hammond for the short-term as a replacement for their head of recruitment Lee Congerton, who has left to follow Brendan Rodgers to Leicester City. Hammond is a surprising choice after his distinct lack of success (to put it mildly) in similar roles with Reading and West Bromwich Albion. A Celtic statement read: "Nick Hammond will be joining on 1 July to work with the club, initially across the summer period. Nick's knowledge, expertise and experience will be invaluable as he assists in the club's recruitment across the forthcoming period. The club has known Nick for some time and we are delighted that he is joining Celtic."

Bellamy Joins Kompany

Craig Bellamy, currently under investigation into claims he bullied youth players while working as a youth coach with Cardiff City, has been handed the reigns of Anderlecht's Under-21 side. New head coach Vincent Kompany has also brought in another former Welsh international in Simon Davies.
