Football News: Sunderland to make a fresh Borini bid in January
Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has confirmed that he intends to make a fresh bid for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini in the January transfer window.
Poyet was disappointed to see a summer move, after the Italian forward had spent last season on loan on Wearside, collapse after weeks of talks.
"I would love to [sign Borini]," he said. "It is difficult to explain [how the summer deal collapsed].
"It was a long summer and the things everyone knows, we agreed a price and we flew to America [for Liverpool's pre-season tour] and he didn't come.
"The bottom line is he is not with us. I am trying to concentrate on what we have got."
Borini was also subject to interest from QPR in the summer, but Harry Redknapp was unable to secure a deal, though it has been denied that he refused to confirm any move after a car window malfunction left him unable to discuss it on transfer deadline day with waiting reporters.
The former Chelsea, Swansea City and AS Roma man is also the subject of interest from Inter Milan, despite only scoring 2 goals for Liverpool and being unable to force his way into a side missing Daniel Sturridge and Mario Balotelli.
