Contracts

American midfielder Weston McKennie has signed a 5 year deal with FC Schalke 04.

Fortuna Dusseldorf forward Dawid Kownacki has agreed a 1 year deal.

 

Transfers

Union Berlin have signed Keven Schlotterbeck on loan from SC Freiburg.

Juventus left-back Leonardo Spinazzola has joined AS Roma for a fee of over £25m. Going the other way is another left-back, Luca Pellegrini for just under £20m. Also leaving Roma is Greek centre back Konstantinos Manolas, who has joined Napoli for over £32m.

Motherwell have released Chris Cadden.

Denis Suarez, who spent the second half of last season on holiday in London, has signed for Celta de Vigo from Barcelona for over £11m.

Standard Liege have granted Mexican international goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa a free transfer.

Nantes have signed Abou Ba from Nancy for under £1m.

Saint-Etienne have released Serbian centre-back Neven Subotic.

Sassuolo have signed young Brazilian left-back Rogerio from Juventus.

Genoa have signed Italian forward Andrea Pinamonti on loan from Inter Milan.

FC Schalke 04 have paid over £13m for teenage Turkish defender Ozan Kabak from Stuttgart.

Former Chelsea youngster Miroslav Storch has made a £1m move to PAOK Salonika from Slavia Prague.

Steau Bucharest's Romanian right-back Romario Benzar has joined Lecce for under £2m.

Montpellier have paid just under £9m for Nimes Olympique midfielder Teji Savanier.

Young French forward Thierry Ambrose has moved to FC Metz from Manchester City for just over £2m.

French midfielder Jessy Pi has left Toulouse to sign for SM Caen.

Borussia Dortmund defender Dario Scuderi has been forced to retire at the age of 21 due to a knee injury.

Diego Godin has completed his move to Inter Milan from Atletico Madrid.

 

Spain Lift U21 Championship

Spain have beaten Germany 2-1 to win their 5th European U21 Championships to equal Italy's record number of wins. Spain needed to ride their luck, defender Jesus Vallejo probably should have been sent off in the first half for a dangerous high tackle but, as he is a Real Madrid player he was only shown a yellow and VAR was never going to change it, unless he was transferred while they were watching the screens.

 

Rabiot Set For Juve

Adrien Rabiot is set to sign for Juventus, with his Paris Saint-Germain contract expired. The 24 year old will join Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal and Emre Can from Liverpool as free agent signings for midfield in the last 2 years.

 

Pep Questions Neymar Return

Manchester City's former Barcelona manager and player Pep Guardiola has questioned whether Neymar should return to his former club. Pep told a Catalonian newspaper: "Neymar is an extraordinary player, but I don't know. It's like if I go back to Barceloa, I am not the same person, and I don't know if Neymar would be the same."

 

Bayern Sue BMW

Bayern Munich are reportedly seeking financial redress over a failed sponsorship deal with BMW, damages of over 10m euros are being sought due to an alleged "breach of trust". Bayern claim BMW made an "unfulfillable" demand during talks that began over a year ago.

 

Redfearn Takes Toon Coaching Role

Neil Redfearn is to take charge of Newcastle United's Under-23s, replacing Ben Dawson. Redfearn has previously managed both Leeds United and Rotherham United's first teams. Dawson will take a new role as the academy's Head of Coaching and will be assisted by Mark Atkinson, who joins from Sunderland. Former Newcastle player Shola Ameobi has been given a role as Loan Coordinator.
