It was feared he would miss the season with an ACL injury but St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin said: "It's a huge relief for Cody. It turns out the ligament he has damaged is on the opposite side to the cruciate so it's not as serious as first feared."

Liverpool face worries over last season's golden gloves winner Alisson Becker, who was taken off injured in the 4-1 win over Norwich City. The 26 year old suffered a calf problem when slipping as he took a goal-kick.

Trotters Game Gets Go Ahead

Bolton Wanderers' League One match versus Coventry City is to be played today, despite the club's takeover by Football Ventures being suspended by court order. Coventry's chief executive confirmed the game will take place saying: "At around 10:45 BST, we received contact from the EFL that they intend for the fixture to go ahead. This has been a very frustrating situation for us, as we try to prepare for a game, and for our supporters, as they try to prepare to support their team in that game. At the same time, we totally understand the situation that Bolton find themselves in and I'm sure all our fans will join us in sympathising with their staff and their supporters over this."

Terriers Charged By FA

Unsurprisingly the ridiculous new shirt stunt by Huddersfield Town and their new sponsors Paddy Power has seen them charged by the FA over breaches of kit and advertising rules. The players wore the spoof shirts in a friendly, with the advertisers logo clearly larger than the rules allow they have been charged. Still it did what the bookmakers wanted and gave them an enormous amount of publicity.

German FA Investigate Player's ID

Gambian footballer Bakery Jatta has been the subject of a complaint from Nuremburg following media claims he is older than his recorded age of 21 and is actually called Bakery Daffeh. There are no records of Jatta prior to joining Hamburg in 2016, but Daffeh played for Brikama United in The Gambia and Casa Sport in Senegal, as well as scoring for The Gambia's under-20 team in a 1-0 win over Liberia. According to Bild any trace of Daffeh ends in August 2015, the same time as Jatta turned up in Germany. Hamburg's head of sport Jonas Boldt said: "We expect in return an unambiguous response from the DFB and DFL about Bakery Jatta's eligibility as soon as possible, so that appearances in cup and league matches are still possible. Ultimately, our player has had a valid passport and has been eligible to play for us for the past three years. For us, it isn't acceptable that this eligibility to play is brought into question by assumptions and conjecture. We stand completely behind Bakery and will carry on to completely include him in training and our matchday squads, as he is a valuable player for us and an integrated, valued member of our team. I personally find it unbelievable and distressing that our player is attacked from all sides in public, purely because of presumptions and suspicion. Baka has once again proved the correctness of his passport and right to work in this country to us."

Mechelen Attempt To Block Verrips Transfer

Belgian side KV Mechelen have gone to FIFA to block Dutch goalkeeper Michael Verrips move to Sheffield United. Verrips signed for the Blades late on deadline day on a free transfer but Mechelen claim they have a contract with the player, which he "unilaterally broke". The 22 year old terminated his deal with Mechelen after they were booted out of the Europa League following a match-fixing investigation.

Xia Bought Out Of Villa

Former Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has sold his final shareholding in the club in return for the new owners, Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris, paying off his £30m debt Randy Lerner. Xia had gained the debt when Villa were promoted back to the Premier League.

La Liga To Play Fridays

A Spanish court has ruled in favour of La Liga to allow matches to take place on Fridays, but did block the league from playing games on Monday. The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) had tried to put a stop to games being played outside of Saturday and Sundays.

Ozil And Kolasinac Out Of Newcastle Game

Arsenal pair Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac have been ruled out of Sunday's match against Newcastle United after "further security incidents". The pair chased off an attempted carjacking attempt by a gang in London two weeks ago but further issues, believed to be related to the incident, have caused the decision to be made. Arsenal said: "The welfare of our players and their families is always a top priority. We have taken this decision following discussion with the players and their representatives. We look forward to welcoming the players back to the squad as soon as possible."
