Review of the Day

Contracts

Turkish youngster Cengiz Under has agreed a new 4 year deal with AS Roma.

Icelandic striker Alfred Finnbogason has a 3 year contract with Augsburg.

Girona have given Spanish midfielder Alex Granell a 3 year contract.

Teenage French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has signed a 3 year deal with Stade Rennais.

Transfers

Swedish forward Joel Asoro has joined Groningen on loan from Swansea City.

Former Everton striker Lacina Traore has joined Celtic's Champions League conquerors CFR Cluj from Hungarian side Ujpest.

Leganes have signed Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem on loan from Porto.

Levante have allowed Nigerian winger Moses Simon on loan from Nantes.

Hoffenheim have paid over £10m for RB Salzburg midfielder Diadie Samassekou.

Hannover 96 have taken Jannes Horn on loan from 1. FC Koln.

French midfielder Denis Will Poha has moved to Vitoria Guimaraes on loan from Stade Rennais.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Adlene Guedioura has joined Qatari Stars League team Al Gharafa.

Abo Eisa has joined Scunthorpe United for an undisclosed fee from Shrewsbury Town.

Grimsby Town move to sign defender Luke Waterfall following his release from Shrewsbury Town.

Midfielder Erhun Oztumer has left Bolton Wanderers leaving the team, which is in administration, with just 5 senior players on its books.

Former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has allowed midfielder Andy King to leave his Leicester City team to join Rangers on a season long loan deal.

Injury Round-Up

Bristol City left back Jay Dasilva has been ruled out for 5 months due to a lower leg stress fracture. The 21 year old had expected to miss around 5 weeks, but the injury was much worse than first thought.

Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has been hospitalised with blood clots in his lungs. Badu's club side Hellas Verona have revealed he was admitted on Wednesday evening after his diagnosis with pulmonary microembolism. He is expected to remain in hospital for a few days for observation. Badu missed out on the AFCON in the summer after spending 11 months out with injury and only returning to fitness in March.

Former Norwich City striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The 30 year Dutch forward, now at Basel, was having brain scans following a severe concussion when a brain aneurysm was discovered. Wolfswinkel said: "I'm very grateful the brain aneurysm got discovered. Normally a brain aneurysm is not discovered in time, only after it has ruptured and caused other damage. The doctors made multiple scans and eventually found out that I have a brain aneurysm. The hit I got in the game has absolutely nothing to do with the existing brain aneurysm - this has been there for a long period but I didn't have any symptoms so we didn't know it was there."

Tractor Boys Agree Fee

Ipswich Town have agreed a fee with Colchester United for full-back Kane Vincent-Young. The 23 year old is now talking over personal terms with the League One side.

Campbell Leaves Macc

Despite managing to keep financially troubled Macclesfield Town in the league last season, Sol Campbell has left the club by 'mutual consent'. Campbell said: "Macclesfield Town gave me a great beginning in the managerial side of the game and fantastic learning curve which I am truly grateful for. I would like to thank all the players and staff for their support during my time at the Moss Rose and also all the loyal fans, whose belief at the end of last season ultimately played a tangible role in our success."

VVV Hand Trial To Cattermole

Lee Cattermole has gone on trial with Dutch Eredivisie side VVV Venlo as they look to rectify a lack of red and yellow cards at the club. The English 'midfielder', who somehow managed to have a top-flight career despite a lack of discernible talent other than kicking people with the skill of a Sunday league hatchet man, was recently released by Sunderland after 10 years with the club. He will now look to add to his tally of 123 yellow cards, or possibly he is just wanting to find some pubs that have not already banned him? Which reminds me, is he still on the PubWatch blacklist of troublemakers? Oh and anyone in the area around Venlo, park your cars out of sight!

Number 5 Called Off

Bury have had their 5th game of the season suspended by the English Football League as they seek to avoid expulsion from the league. Their away match versus Rotherham Town on Tiesday has been called off. The club's financial strife has shown no sign of easing despite club staff taking the unusual step of posting a statement on the club's official website pleading with the owner Steve Dale to sell up.

QPR Walk Off Due To Racism

Queens Park Rangers' under 18 side have suffered racist abuse during a friendly against Seville side AD Nervion, which led to their coach Paul Furlong to instruct the players to leave the pitch. The club's chief executive Lee Hoos has asked for tougher punishment: "We have made great strides in tackling racism in football but sadly there is still a long way to go. I urge Uefa to take the strongest possible action as incidents of this nature are happening far too often." Unfortunately for Hoos, the match was actually under the jurisdiction of FIFA, who say they have received no information about the matter.

ITV To Broadcast Live La Liga Matches

Spanish football will be shown on free-to-air TV channel ITV4 in the UK this season, after La Liga's deal with Eleven Sports (owned by Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani) was cut short. The deal so far is for just 3 live matches but negotiations are continuing to broadcast live matches throughout the season.

El Loco Still Loco

Leeds United's Argentine boss Marcelo Bielsa has once more shown that he does things his way, no matter what. Bielsa has been heavily criticised for revealing his team days before a match and so, when asked what team he would be picking on Saturday, Bielsa replied: "I cannot name the team before the game, as a supporter said I was giving away a lot to the opposition. But between you and me it's the same team." The starting line-up that started the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest: Casilla, Dallas, White, Cooper, Douglas, Phillips, Hernandez, Forshaw, Klich, Harrison, Bamford.

UEFA Player Of The Year Nominees Named

There have been no surprises in UEFA's shortlist for UEFA's Player of the Year award. As usual it is Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and another, this time Virgil van Dijk. Last year Luka Modric was the 3rd option and won the award, breaking up a lengthy run of years when the trophy was passed between Messi and Ronaldo.

Chelsea Condemn Abraham Abuse

Chelsea have hit out at "abhorrent posts" sent to striker Tammy Abraham after the young striker missed a penalty in the European Super Cup defeat to Liverpool. A Chelsea spokesman said: "We are disgusted with the abhorrent posts we have seen on social media. Chelsea FC finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour unacceptable. It has no place at this club and where there is clear evidence of Chelsea season ticket holders or members involved in such behaviour, we will take the strongest possible action against them."
