Bury May Be Granted Stay Of Execution

The English Football League are considering extending the deadline for Bury's expulsion from the league by 48 hours after 4 parties showed genuine interest in buying the stricken club. EFL chief executive Debbie Jevans said: "We've already suspended five matches and those five matches will have to be fitted into the rest of the season. We could potentially look at 24 to 48 hours but two to three weeks is simply not possible. Our position is that we are still searching and asking for the information that we require from Mr Dale to run the football club. Separate to that, we have received some communication from people interested in purchasing the football club and we have communicated that with Mr Dale and asked him whether or not we can share financial information, because it is privileged and he is still the owner. He has given permission for that so we have shared the information and put A in touch with B, so there are people that are interested."

Kompany Relinquishes Managerial Role On Match Days

Anderlecht player-manager Vincent Kompany will be handing over the managerial reins on match days to head coach Simon Davies in a bid to turn things around after the club's worst start to a league season in 21 years. Kompany will retain the captaincy. Davies said: "One of the things that is going to change straight away is Vinnie is going to be captain. He is going to concentrate on being the player on match day. If Vinnie can be the best player in the league, which he is, and lead on the field, I can take responsibility for all the other things like changes and how we play, and if we need to change shape during the game."

Former Ghana International Agogo Dies Aged Just 40

27 capped forward Junior Agogo, who played for Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Bristol Rovers before retiring in 2012 at Hibs, has passed away aged 40. Agogo had suffered a stroke in 2015 and was a hero in Ghana after his performances in the 2008 edition of the AFCON tournament. Former Ghana team-mate Laryea Kingston said: "A lot of fans didn't know but those of us in the team knew he was going to be good for us. He spent a lot of time in the gym and his strength reflected in the way he played. He simply wanted to score goals and make a mark for the team and I am glad he did. He had a word for everyone, enjoyed a good dance, could tease a lot and take it too. This has really hit a lot of us."
