Injury Round-Up

Gillingham's reserve goalkeeper Joe Walsh was injured prior to kick-off at the weekend and was replaced on the bench by 48 year old Simon Royce.

Heart of Midlothian have been hit with more injuries as both Craig Halkett and Loic Damour limped off in the draw with St Mirren. Hearts boss Craig Levein said: "The one with Craig is a real body blow. He went in for a challenge and got caught. He's opened up the medial knee ligament in a challenge and damaged it, so he could be out for a little while. Possibly a long while. Loic Damour hasn't played a lot of football, so his injury is nothing serious at all, he just felt his hamstring get tight and was worried about it."

N'Golo Kante looks set to return to the Chelsea side to face Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday night after missing the weekend's match against Brighton & Hove Albion with a hamstring issue.

OGC Nice forward Adam Ounas has been ruled out for 6 weeks with a knee injury.

Ball Boys Sent Off

Yeovil Town's attempt at gamesmanship saw 8 red cards shown, all to their ball boys! The Glovers were 3-1 up on Bromley entering the final ten minutes and their attempts to waste time included having the ball boys hold on to the ball longer than normal. Local radio commentator Chris Spittles said: "One ball boy delayed giving the ball back to Bromley's Sam Wood about 10 minutes from the end and was warned by the referee. But when the same ball boy repeated the trick shortly after the referee asked for them all to be removed. One steward was tasked with gathering them all in and leading them away down the tunnel. I've never seen anything like it."

Defoe In Crash

Rangers' former England striker Jermain Defoe was involved in a traffic accident just a couple of hours after scoring for his team in a 5-0 win. No one was badly hurt in the incident and Defoe said on social media: "I just want to thank you for your lovely messages. I know you must have been so worried, but I'm fine. I'm just going to go home and rest up. I'm in a little bit of shock but I'm all good."

Nice Youngster Admits Stealing Watch

18 year old OGC Nice forward Lamine Diaby-Fadiga as admitted to stealing fellow striker Kasper Dolberg's £62,000 watch earlier this month. The teenager is set to be sacked, despite apologising and being highly rated at the French club, where he made his debut aged just 16.

Spanish FA Accuse TV Of Manipulating VAR Footage

The Spanish FA (RFEF) have accused TV company Mediapro of doctoring images used in a VAR decision on Denis Cheryshev's winning goal for Valencia against Athletic Bilbao. TV footage showed Maxi Gomez to be offside in the buildup, but VAR allowed the goal, now the RFEF are claiming the footage was falsified to raise questions over VAR's validity. The RFEF said: "Against the most elementary rules of the ethical sporting code and the rules of national and international competition, the producer of the match has put up images of a hypothetical offside line that doesn't correspond to the [line] of VAR. These images [are] without any sort of technical rigour and offer a distorted view of the play. [It's a] manoeuvre which creates a social alarm like a loss in confidence in the current VAR provider and in the skill of the Spanish referees."
