Bentley To Drive Fylde

The longest serving manager in the English league Jim Bentley has quit his job as manager of Morecambe and take the reins at AFC Fylde of the National League. Bentley took charge at Morecambe back in 2011, after spending 9 years with them as a player. Bentley has made the decision to drop down a division and take over from Dave Challinor, who was sacked earlier this month. Bentley said: "It's been an emotional couple of days, but it's for the right reasons - I'm coming to a new venture now which I'm really excited about. I'm very proud of the job I've done there, but I want a CV that shows promotions as much as the survival. It's totally geared to go up here, it's a club going in the right direction, and hopefully I can carry on the good work that David Challinor did here."

Kenwright Gift Blocked By Premier League Rules

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright's offer of £1m to help keep Bury alive has been blocked due to Premier League rules regarding conflict of interest. Despite the intended donation being from his personal fortune and unconnected to Everton EFL chief executive Debbie Jevans said it was impossible for it to be accepted. Jevans said: "He was great. [Everton] do a huge amount of work in the community. The Premier League clubs do a huge amount through solidarity payments and parachute payments, but a football club owner cannot have interests in more than one club. If there was an opportunity for help through the community work that happens at Everton, and they do a huge amount, then there is a conversation to be potentially had, but that is very different to Premier League clubs having an involvement in a second club." Other offers were accepted, such as Manchester City allowing Bury to use their training complex rent-free for the next 5 years.

Forest Give Food Parcels After Postponed Game

After Nottingham Forest's game on Saturday against Reading was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, the food brought in to sell to the fans was instead donated to a homeless charity called Framework, which is based in Nottingham. This is the second time Forest have donated food that would otherwise go to waste.
