Review of the Day

Contracts

Italian midfielder Daniele Dessena has signed a new deal with Brescia which runs until 2021.

Transfers

Teenage Derby County keeper Sam French has signed for Stevenage on an emergency loan.

Injury Round-Up

Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back Willy Boly has suffered a broken ankle but will undergo further tests to see if he needs surgery. Wolves' head of medical Phil Hayward said: "Unfortunately, Willy Boly sustained a serious injury to his left ankle in training earlier today. Initial tests show a fracture to his fibula, and he will undergo further imaging over the coming days to determine whether surgery is required or not. If surgery is required that will take place during the next week."

Mess In Championship

Midway through the second half of West Bromwich Albion's 2-2 draw with Charlton Athletic saw shambolic scenes as the referee showed a red card to the wrong player. After Nathan Ferguson committed a foul on Chris Solly on the halfway line referee Matthew Donohue waved a red card at Grady Diangana. After protests from the West Brom bench, Donohue consulted with his assistants and realised his error, setting it right.

Stanley Give Away

Accrington Stanley offered a little bit of early Christmas cheer to those hardy Gillingham fans who made the journey north to see their team. Stanley gave a free drink to each of them that turned up. Just to show some extra generosity, they also let the Gills win their first away game of the season.

Six Games Called Off In England

Nottingham Forest's game game versus Reading was one of six games in the English Football League called off due to a waterlogged pitch as heavy rain hit the football schedules. Macclesfield Town v Bradford City, Tranmere Rovers v Doncaster Rovers, Lincoln City v Bolton Wanderers, Forest Green Rovers v Crewe Alexandra and Grimsby Town v Cheltenham Town were the other games.

Sub Concedes Pen While Warming Up

Holstein Kiel midfielder Michael Eberwein has been waiting a long time to get his first touch for the club since signing for them in the summer. Today he finally got that touch, unfortunately for him he was not on the pitch at the time. Eberwein was warming up behind the goal during their German second division game against Bochum when a wayward shot headed in his direction and he kicked it back. VAR spotted that the ball did not fully cross the line before he kicked it back and a penalty was awarded to allow Bochum to equalise. Eberwein must have heaved a huge sigh of relief when Janni Serra notched the winner for Holstein Kiel.

Stalker Sent To Prison

A stalker who plagued Italian footballer Fabio Quagliarella and forced him to leave Napoli to escape him, has been sentenced to jail. Raffaele Piccolo was working for the postal service and sent threatening letters to Quagliarella before pretending to be a police officer dealing with the threats. Piccolo also preyed on a number of other local people with Quaglierella ending up barely able to leave the house and then being accused of being a traitor by Napoli fans when he left to join Juventus to escape.
