Football News: Newcastle told no keeper loan allowed
The Premier League have informed Newcastle United that they will not be allowed to loan in a goalkeeper on an emergency loan following injuries to their two first choice custodians.
The Prem has informed the Toon that they will not qualify for an emergency loan as they still have three fit goalies on their books in Karl Darlow, Jak Alnwick and Freddie Woodman.
Unfortunately for the Tyneside club, Alnwick and Woodman are both untried youngsters and Darlow is on loan at his previous club Nottingham Forest for the season.
With Tim Krul out with an ankle injury and now Rob Elliot joining him on the sidelines following his aggravating a thigh injury, Newcastle are now short of cover in the keeping department.
There has been some tentative contact towards ex-Barcelona stopper Victor Valdes with the offer of a short term contract, but it seems unlikely that he will take up the offer.
