Police investigating the takeover of Rangers by Craig Whyte, have now extended the investigation to include Charles Green and his time in charge of the Glasgow club.

In claims which first came to light on our sister site Rangers rumours at the time, the police are looking into his buy-out of the club and the subsequent £70million cash burn.

Police officers spent a couple of days last week in London interviewing the key personnel linked to Green's time in charge.

It is believed that former chairman Malcolm Murray was interviewed as part of the investigation, though it is thought he was just seen as a witness.

As part of a separate investigation, previous owner Craig Whyte has been charged with fraud for his part in the initial takeover.

Police are intent on finding out how Green was chosen by administrators Duff and Phelps to be the preferred bidder for the club, and also where large sums of money, including the £22million raised in IPO selling shares to investors.

Former Rangers chief executive Graham Wallace revealed earlier this year that he calculated that £70million had been spent in 18 month period which followed Green's takeover.

The irony of the colours of chief rivals Celtic, green and white, being the names of two people investigated over fraudulent actions involving Rangers is not lost on many!
