Transfers

LA Galaxy have traded defender Dave Romney to Nashville for a fee of around £184,000.

Nashville have also signed midfielder Dax McCarty from Chicago Fire as they prepare for the 2020 MLS season.

San Jose Earthquakes have signed the second-youngest player in Major League Soccer history. 14 year old Emmanuel Ochoa has signed a Homegrown contract, the youngest to sign one.

 


Injury Round-Up

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has been ruled out of Egypt's AFCON qualifiers with an ankle injury.

Midfielder Joao Mario has withdrawn from the Portugese squad due to injury. Mario is currently on loan with Lokomotiv Moscow from Inter Milan.

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic is out of the Croatia squad to face Slovakia due to an Achilles injury.

Everton midfielder Fabian Delph has withdrawn from England duty with a hamstring injury.

 


Chong Considers Future

Just three months after Tahith Chong's agent Erkan Alkan said: "Tahith doesn't want to leave the club but earn a chance at Manchester United." Chong himself has relaunched speculation about his future by saying: "For me, all options are currently open. I have to focus on the season first, then I'll see, where my journey takes me. It's still very early. I'm a player of Manchester United. I work hard and focus on performing well. A new contract will come automatically then."

 


Kean Dropped By Everton

Everton have dropped summer signing from Juventus, Moise Kean after the teenager breached team rules by being late for a team meeting. It was the second time Kean's timekeeping had been an issue and so Kean was dropped from the Toffees' squad.

 


Lennon Dumped Into Under-23s

Southend United defender Harry Lennon has been ordered to train with the clubs under-23 team after being filmed out on the town with Dover players following their defeat at the hands of the non-league outfit in the FA Cup. National League side Dover beat Southend 1-0 and just a few hours later centre back Lennon was filmed in a pub with Dover players, still wearing his Southend tracksuit.

 


Horoya Quickly Find New Coach

Guinea's Horoya have appointed Senegalese coach Lamine Ndiaye on a 3 year deal. Previous coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa was sacked 3 days before after failing to reach the semi-finals of the African Champions League semi-finals.

 


Malinzi Gets 10 Year Ban

The former president of Tanzania's Football Federation Jamal Malinzi has been banned for 10 years by FIFA for misappropriation of funds and falsifying documents and fined 500,000 Swiss frances. Malinzi has been in prison on remand in Tanzania since June 2017 over claims of embezzlement and money-laundering.

 


Spanish Super Cup Moves To Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is to host the four team Spanish Super Cup tournament in January 2020. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Valencia are to compete in the four-team event in Jeddah. It has been reported that the Spanish Football Federation will receive around about £30m a year.

 


Sterling Dropped After Gomez Clash

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling has been dropped by England after a clash with Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, as the argument between the two on-pitch during Liverpool's Premier League win over Man City continued. Sterling took to social media to post a public apology, saying: "Both Joe and I have had words and figured things out and moved on. We are in a sport where emotions run high and I am man enough to admit when emotions got the better of me. This is why we play this sport because of our love for it - me and Joe Gomez are good, we both understand it was a five to 10 second thing... it's done, we move forward and not make this bigger than it is. Let's get focus on our game on Thursday."

 


Suso Splits With Agent

Alessandro Lucci is no longer acting as AC Milan forward Suso's agent. Lucci announced: "We have experienced positive years, facing new challenges and experiencing true emotions from a sporting and human point of view. Now our professional paths separate, but the esteem for the player and for the man will remain unchanged. Good luck Jesus, for your career and for your life outside the field; it was a pleasure to share this experience together."

 


Villa Involved In NY Team

David Villa, the former New York City FC forward and Spain legend, has confirmed that he is a lead investor in a USL Championship expansion team which is being set up in Queens, New York. The team is set to be called Queensboro FC and is aiming to begin playing in 2021. Villa released a statement which read: "Bringing professional football to Queens' diverse community is an exciting and unique opportunity. The beautiful game already lives here, thanks to the melting pot of cultures who are so passionate about the sport. I can't think of a better place for QBFC to grow. I'm proud to be part of this project."
