Football News: Villa hit by another injury blow

Aston Villa's injury woes deepen again as star midfield man Ashley Westwood is ruled out for a month with a knee injury.

The former Crewe Alexandra man suffered medial ligament damage following a nasty challenge by Jamie Vardy in Villa's victory over Leicester City on Sunday.

Westwood now joins Fabian Delph, Tom Cleverley and Joe Cole on the treatment table, as manager Paul Lambert sees his midfield decimated through injury.

Lambert also has to contend without Ron Vlaar, Philippe Senderos and Nathan Baker, with the defensive trio also sidelined through injury.

The Scotsman will now doubt be especially thankful for the return of Belgian striker Christian Benteke to full fitness, as the club close in on the busy Christmas period.
