Football News: Rangers v Celtic Cup Final Review

It was a sore one to take yesterday, but simple facts are Rangers never took the chances and got punished for it.

The only real positives to take away from it were, we overran the Celtic team from start to finish, stopped them playing any kind of football and outperformed them in every position on the pitch, we 100% can compete with that Celtic team but just need a little more belief to get us over the line.

I think in January we need to get a lot of dead wood out the club and sign a few high-quality players to help us move up to the next level. My thoughts are that our team should look like this going into 2020 and we will win the league;

· GK - McGregor/ McCrorie/ Firth - Mix of good youth for future and experience
· RB - Tavernier/ Flanagan - Natural positions and cover
· LB - Barisic/ New Signing - Need competition in this position
· CB - Goldson/ Helander/ Katic/ New Signing - Need competition for Goldson
· CM - Jack/ Kamara/ Davis/ Arfield/ Aribo/ McCrorie/ New Signing - Need good replacements
· RW - Kent/ New Signing - Needs competition and cover
· LW - Jones/ Stewart/ Arfield - Stewart/ Arfield not natural position but could give cover
· ST - Morelos/ Defore/ Stewart/ New Signing - needs more cover and competition

Additional Needed
The team still needs a fair few million spent on it to compete consistently with Celtic. We aren't that far away but i'd say there is at least £10-£15 Million needed across the team to give enough cover and quality if someone gets injured aswell as competing in 4 competitions every year!

LB - Someone as good as Barisic or high potential who is a natural LB to give cover and compete
CB - We have decent youth in Katic and Edmundson but need more experience to replace underperformers like Goldson who clearly needs dropped for a while
CM - Bring back McCrorie to give cover for Jack and find potential high-end replacement for Arfield and Davis
RW - Kent is amazing but needs competition and cover if he gets injured or off his game
ST - Stewart can cover here but think we need another high-end striker to compete for that position. Morelos may leave also at end of season so need a replacement of top quality

Sell or Release in January
Id personally get these guys out asap as they bring nothing to the team and are pushing up the wage bill some could get fees majority will need to be released as not good enough;
· Foderingham - Sell/ Release - Not good enough better options in Youth
· Edmundson - Loan out - Needs game time and experience
· Matt Polster - Loan Out or Sell/ Release - Not good enough try to sell
· Docherty - Loan Out or Sell/ Release - I like him but not good enough to replace existing
· Andy Halliday - Sell/ Release - Blue nose but simply not good enough
· Andy King - Cancel Loan - brings nothing to the team stealing a wage
· Ojo - Cancel Loan - far too inconsistent and doesn't work hard enough for team
· Grezda - Sell/ Release - Useless and should be sold or released
· Barker - Sell/ Release - I like him but not good enough even as cover
· Murphy - Sell/ Release - I like him but always injured probably finished
