Contracts

Fikayo Tomori has signed a new deal with Chelsea which expires in 2024.

Spanish midfielder Ruben Alcaraz has signed a contract extension with Real Valladolid tying him to the club until 2023.

LA Galaxy have given Daniel Steres a 1 year deal.

Columbus Crew forward Jordan Hamilton has signed a 1 year deal.

James Milner, Jurgen Klopp, Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz have all signed new deals with Liverpool. Milner is now contracted until 2022 while the other three are now tied down until 2024.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard, and his coaching staff, have extended their deals with the club until 2024.

Irish youngster Gavin Kilkenny has signed a new contract with Bournemouth.

 


Transfers

Argentine forward Ezequiel Lavezzi has retired. He had been with Heibei China Fortune.

 



Injury Round-Up

Bournemouth's Dutch defender Nathan Ake has been ruled out for up to 6 weeks with a hamstring injury.

 


Macc Pay Wages

Macclesfield Town's striking players will be back to work as normal on Saturday after their outstanding wages were paid. They are due to face Walsall at the weekend in League Two, a week after their home game with Crewe Alexandra was suspended. That game has now been rearranged for 21st January.

 


McGeady Told To Leave

Sunderland have told winger Aiden McGeady that he can go in the January transfer window. The Republic of Ireland international was last season's player of the year for the club, but new manager Phil Parkinson has told him that he can leave.

 


FIFA Committee Member Guilty Of Corruption

Former president of the Tanzanian Football Federation and FIFA committee member Jamal Malinzi has been found guilty of document forgery. Malinzi was ordered to either serve a 2 year jail term or pay a fine of $220. FIFA banned him from football for 10 years and fined him over $500,000.

 


Zlatan Statue Vandalised Again

Police have put up a fence around the statue of Zlatan Ibrahimovic outside Malmo's stadium after vandals attempted to saw through its feet and placed a rope around its neck. A police spokesperson said: "Someone tried to saw the feet. There is a risk now it could fall and we have placed a fence around it." Since Zlatan bought 25% of Malmo's rivals Hammarby, the statue has been sprayed with paint, a toilet seat put on its head and then arm, a bag put over the head and it was set on fire. His Stockholm house has also been vandalised and someone painted "Judas" on the front door.

 


Pep Dismisses Exit Clause Talk

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has denied that there is an exit clause in his contract which would allow him to leave the club during the summer. It was reported in the media that the clause existed but Guardiola said: "It is not true. I spoke a few weeks ago about my intentions with the club."

 


Gala Suspend N'Zonzi

Former Stoke City midfielder Steven N'Zonzi, a World Cup winner with France in 2018, has been on loan with Galatasaray this season after struggling at Serie A side Roma last season. It seems to be going no better for him there, as the Turkish club announced he has been suspended: "Galatasaray have decided to suspend Steven NZonzi for an undetermined period of time because of undisciplined behavior during a recent training session".
