Former Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur defender Vedran Corluka has extended his contract with Lokomotiv Moscow by a year.

Granada have paid over £1m for teenage Spanish striker Anotonin from Malaga.

Veteran Welsh international midfielder Joe Ledley has signed for Newcastle United Jets of the Australian A-League. The 33 year old was a free agent.

Injury Round-Up

West Ham United's January signing Tomas Soucek has been ruled out for 3 weeks with a hip injury suffered in the defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday.

Disciplinary Charges

Bradford City have complained to the Football Association after Newport County fans allegedly abused Bradford manager Stuart McCall about the 1985 fire at Bradford stadium Valley Parade in which 56 people died and McCall's father was badly burned. Newport County have apologised to the Bantams and an Exiles statement read: "NCAFC would like to apologise unreservedly to Bradford City AFC and more so Stuart McCall for the unsavoury actions towards Stuart at Rodney Parade on Saturday. These actions have no place in society, let alone in our football club and chairman Gavin Foxall has been in dialogue with Bradford officials and spoken personally to manager Stuart McCall to offer an apology on behalf the club." Gwent Police have confirmed that they were contacted by Newport County about the incident. Bradford said: "We are absolutely disgusted by what our manager and club were subjected to on Saturday afternoon. Such repulsive chanting should not be tolerated by anyone and we have made our position clear to The FA. The Valley Parade Fire Disaster was without a doubt the darkest day in our club's proud, 117-year history. We were astounded to witness the tragedy - which continues to cause anguish to hundreds of people - being mocked, with stewards in close proximity appearing to leave the incident unchallenged. We would like to take this opportunity, however, to thank Newport County for their response over the past 24 hours. Newport officials have informed us that Gwent Police are now conducting an investigation into the incident which, as a club, we welcome." A Bradford statement explained that McCall was approached by a man carrying a Leeds United flag who verbally abused McCall, as well as chants mocking the tragedy emanating from the Newport fans.

Zimbabwe have been barred from hosting international matches as its stadiums fail to meet the required standards. Their 'home' games will have to be played at neutral venues until improvements are made.

Egyptian giants Zamalek are facing punishment after failing to turn up for the Cairo derby match against bitter rivals Al Ahly on Monday. Zamalek president Mortada Mansour had said initially that his players would not go to the Cairo International Stadium, which the two clubs share because of "fear and worry" over their welfare. This is following a penalty shootout win over Al Ahly in the Egyptian Super Cup last week in Abu Dhabi, which saw players and officials from both sides involved in a mass on-pitch brawl. It is believed Mansour changed his mind about boycotting the game and tried to send a youth team instead but they did not make it in time and so the game was abandoned, giving Al Ahly a win.

Serie A Games Behind Closed Doors

Five matches in Serie A are to be played behind closed doors due to the fears of spreading the coronavirus. Closed door matches:
Juventus v Inter Milan
Udinese v Fiorentina
AC Milan v Genoa
Parma v SPAL
Sassuolo v Brescia

Red Devils Revenue Drops

An absence from the Champions League has contributed to a 12% drop in revenue for Manchester United in the six months up to December. Broadcasting revenue also fell, by over a third at 33.4%, though commercial revenue showed an increase of 6.5%. United's executive vice-chairman said that he believes that the club had put in place "the foundation for delivering the long-term success that we are all working towards. We are pushing for a strong finish in the Premier League, the Europa League and the FA Cup as we enter the final third of the season." The last accounting year saw the Mancunians post a record revenue figure of £627m, but still dropped to third in Deloitte's Football Money League behind Real Madrid and Barcelona. Debt has increased by 23% to £391m, despite an operating profit of £36.5m.
